Gambling being used as a theme, that’s not exactly a new idea, we’ve all seen Las Vegas inspired slots before, but for Jackpot Express they’ve thought up of a different angle. The story in this new Yggdrasil Gaming slot, revolves around a riverboat casino, the sort of 19th century gambling destination that is retro enough to look cool right now. Featuring the usual high end graphics of Yggdrasil, along with progressive jackpots, it’s definitely one of the slots that I enjoyed from their collection.
They created this one with 5x3 reels & 20 lines, so a fairly common type of setup, and one that can deliver wins of up to 2,175x the stake. Add the three progressive jackpots, one of which gets into the six figures range at times, and you have plenty to look forward to. Combine the two aspects of the game, and you get to a 96.20% RTP as well (91.20% for just the fixed part of the game), while as features it delivers its wilds, several variants of free spins and bonus games.
Betting and Prizes
The fixed part of the bet concerns the active lines, as you’re always using 20 of them. The coin value is the one you can modify as needed, and while taking the denomination from $0.01 to $20, the total goes from $0.20 to $400 per spin.
What you’re seeing in Jackpot Express, is a slot machine with top payouts of up to 2,175x the stake, which is a good amount to be winning, since the amount of risk involved doesn’t seem to be very high. With only low-medium volatility, the payouts mentioned sound great, but at the same time you need to keep in mind that the slot offers progressive jackpots as well, and on its own it has a RTP of only 91.20%. Add the progressive jackpots, and you reach a more acceptable 96.20%.
As for the progressive jackpots that the game is capable of triggering, there are three of them, and their values range from a few thousand dollars, to over $100,000, depending on which one you get (Major, Side and Minor).
Jackpot Express Slot Features
The usual Wild Logo, designed to fit the era’s Art Deco look, will be one of the features that have been implemented. Landing on all reels, it is then capable of forming its own wins and paying the game’s big prize of up to 12.5x total stake per line. Otherwise, expect to mostly use this one as the substitute that we’ve learned to appreciate in most slots.
One of the other major features available, is the one with a Wheel of Fortune style action, to which you can get via three scatter symbols when landing in view. The outcome of the Wheel’s spin can be one of three versions of the free spins. With 10 free spins present in all versions, it’s mostly the features that change from one to the other, and they’re based on different versions of casino games.
You can get the Card version, where two cards are dealt, for yourself and for the casino dealer. If you’re the winner, then you get a sticky wild somewhere on the reels.
Another is the version based on Dice, where up to 12x multipliers are available, depending on the result of the throw of the dice.
As for the Roulette version of the free spins, there is one that spins here, to give you multipliers, more free spins, cash prizes or sticky wilds.
The way to trigger the progressive jackpots is through the same Wheel of Fortune. Once triggered, the feature has its own wheel to spin, that you can advance on. One of three progressive jackpots can be triggered on one of the three levels, but there are also cash prizes and multipliers, so it’s not a guaranteed progressive prize.
Theme & Design
The Art Deco style of the early 20th century, along with the high end quality that we’ve come to expect from Yggdrasil’s work, result in an excellent slot machine. The visuals are great, but so is the riverboat casino theme that they’ve gone for, since it’s original. The mix of symbols relies on logos, several gamblers and ladies from the boat, along with Yggdrasil online casino chips with the card suits on them.
Jackpot Express is going to be quite the interesting slot, and if you’re a fan of progressive jackpots, then this would be one of the better choices you get in Yggdrasil’s portfolio. I like the game’s potential and volatility, it makes it accessible to a lot of people.
On the other hand, if you don’t take the progressive jackpot’s contribution to the RTP into consideration, the game on its own is at only 91.20%, which is very low. You need to be looking at them together as a whole, knowing that a big chunk of that RTP is reserved to only a couple of lucky players.
