Designed by AceRun and available at Yggdrasil Gaming casinos, Donkey Coins Hold & Win is, pretty much as expected, a donkey-themed slot. It has some things going for it, including its theme, and there are some areas where it lacks any sort of appeal, and I'm referring particularly to its prizes and expected returns.
The game area you get to use has 5x3 reels, but only 5 active paylines will be found inside. There will be a top prize worth 1,432x the stake for you to try and claim, along with medium-high volatility and a maximum RTP of 94%. Features include the Hold & Win respins, along with a scatter, and that's about it.
Besides being simple to play, the game offers a very accessible betting range as well, which goes from $0.20 to $50.
Expect an online slot that can pay up to 1,432x the round's stake at its best, which is far from a good deal when you're looking at medium to high volatility, as they've announced in its case. The RTP doesn't have a very high maximum, either, only going up to 94% (96% or higher would've been much better).
For the most part, there isn't a lot for you to do in this slot machine. It has only a couple of paylines on which to form combinations (though there are only 7 regular symbols as well, so it's not as tough as it might seem). You don't get a lot of features, either.
One special symbol is the scatter, showing the donkey's behind and the feature's logo. This is a symbol that pays when it lands anywhere in view, 2x to 50x the stake, being the potential reward range.
The other one with an extra role to play is the bonus symbol, which uses the image of a gold coin with a horseshoe drawn on it. These are symbols that carry prizes, but they only pay during the bonus game.
Triggering the Hold & Win respins requires that you have 6+ bonus symbols at the same time, in any position. You get 3 respins, and the bonus symbols are sticky. Respins reset if new bonus symbols land. You get paid all the prizes shown on bonus symbols at the end of the feature. With all 15 positions occupied by bonus symbols, the 1,000x Grand Bonus Prize is added to the pot.
While you have the donkey's ass in one of the feature symbols, you're not going to see its face in any of the regular symbols. Those symbols feature the image of the donkey's master, a money bag, a horseshoe, and the J to A Royals.
Donkey Coins Hold & Win gives the player very simple gameplay, with a Hold & Win feature as the only way to enjoy yourself. I did appreciate the possibility of getting paid up to 1,000x through a regular combo (the donkey's master symbol), not just through the main feature, but the RTP is lower than I'd like.
