Beetlejuice Megaways Slot Machine Review

A Barcrest branded slot game, Beetlejuice Megaways will make use of the very popular Big Time Gaming game engine, called Megaways. It’s the type of game that will provide you with big wins, and high volatility, all while bringing back one of the popular films from the late 80s, the horror comedy that was Beetlejuice.

The game is not quite the type that you know from other Megaways developers, as it has only 5 reels and as many as 248,832 ways to win, this being possible with up to 12 symbols on each column. It’s going to be able to trigger top prizes of up to 6,220x the stake, or up to $250,000, whichever gets hit first. RTP-wise, it’s somewhere between 94% and 96%, depending on the wager that you’re using. The part that many will find exciting, the list of features, will consist of wilds, cascading reels, mystery symbols, and free spins where multipliers with unlimited potential are present.

The slot’s allowing you to set up a wager for the entire game area, and it can be quite low if needed, even at $0.10 per spin. The upper limit of the range is $500. The Megaways system that’s used here is different, as it allows for up to 12 symbols per reel, and has only 5 reels. The way to extend the game area is through wins that happen at the top half of the reels. They call this mechanic Mighty Ways.

As you form wins, cascading reels will remove symbols that are involved, and others will get a chance to form new combinations.

Wilds are going to be present in the game, and you will get to use them in the creation of new combinations, as substitutes.

Ghost mystery symbols may show up on the reels, and they all get transformed into a single symbol, which is picked at random.

Via scatters, with 3 to 5 required, you can get into the free spins. Up to 16 rounds are delivered, where multipliers go up by 1x whenever you get cascading reels to trigger. You don’t have an upper limit on how high the multiplier can go in this feature, which is something that we’ve seen in quite a few Megaways titles over the years, and part of the reason why they’re so popular.

Theme & Design

Beetlejuice Megaways looks the part and makes sure that it gives you a taste of the horror comedy film that was released in 1988. A Tim Burton film, it’s turned into a slot machine now, but the graphics are closer to our present day, than to the late 80s era. While some of the symbols still rely on lower-value Royals (10 to A), the others show us Beetlejuice, Lydia, a snake, Miss Argentina, and a Shrunken Head.

Conclusion

Beetlejuice Megaways looks great for a branded game that’s based on a film from the 80s, and most players will appreciate it. The one downside is the low RTP for players that use smaller wagers, so I wouldn’t recommend the slot if you can’t afford using at least $2 per spin.
