The company has obtained its gaming license from one of the better gaming jurisdictions around, Alderney. If you’re concerned about fairness and safety of your information, Ainsworth is definitely one of the developers that can be trusted in that regard.

One quick thing to note about this company, is that they are specialists in the land-based market, and the founder’s experience and connections lie there most of all. Online, they don’t do nearly as well and they’re not one of the big names of this market, but they are growing rapidly and they have enough experience with gambling to create good content and get a better position in time.

History

The start of Ainsworth’s history goes back to 1995, when it was created by Les Ainsworth. The former founder and CEO of Aristocrat, created this second company and started from scratch back then, and he managed to do very well with it.

Even as far as Ainsworth goes, for most of its history, it’s connected mostly with the land-based market, not the online one. They’ve launched several slot cabinets over the years, upgrading them from time to time, and so they moved from the Ambassador line, to Ambassador SL, to A560SL and these days to the A600 line.

In the last couple of years, they started paying more attention to the online side of the business, and so these days they offer 75 slots, which are usually ports from the land-based variants which proved successful.

Ainsworth Casino Games

You will discover that the slot machines which Ainsworth is offering are usually interesting, and it’s the theme that often manages to achieve that. There are themes inspired by carnivals, jungle, magic, Native American traditions, and many others.

One of the pros I’ve seen in their case, is that they’re expanding rapidly and they’re bringing slots which are available in land casinos to the online market. This makes them easier to get to the market, since they don’t have to start from scratch, they just port the content over. As a result, in 2020 alone they announced a total of 20 slot machines, and I’d imagine that they’re not going to slow down next year.

Graphics

I wouldn’t expect a slot machine which is popular in land-based casinos, to be at the same level of quality as a major release from one of the dedicated online developers. I’m almost never impressed with the graphics involved in such slots, but generally I find them serviceable. You’re not going to run away screaming from an Ainsworth slot machine, but you’re not likely to choose it based on its design alone either. It’s more likely that the theme, features or payouts will be the ones making it attractive for you.

The themed symbols, which are of pretty good quality usually, and highly detailed, are almost always accompanied by Royals. If you’re lucky, these low paying symbols will have an appropriate design for that theme, but it’s not a guarantee.

Overall, the word that best describes the typical Ainsworth slot machine, is “average”. Mind you, this is for the online market, where the quality is better.

Features

Some of the games which Ainsworth has will innovate, and the Quad Shot series is definitely one to watch out if you’re looking for something a little bit different. In the majority of the cases, what you will find is wild symbols, scatters and free spins. There is some variety even there though, as multipliers and other options help improve the gameplay.

Payouts

Now, payout wise you can expect for Ainsworth to deliver some pretty good rewards, but there will be wagers on the high side available as well, to get you there. I’ve seen wins in the six figure range mentioned on the paytable at that point. In a slot like Ming Warrior, the stake can be returned to you at 50x per win line, or 1,000x for the entire screen filled with matching symbols. Look at Light Em Up, and that one can pay 3,000x the stake. These are considered good payouts, though not over the top.

The RTP is another one to look at, and it’s where Ainsworth disappoints me. A good game from them has an RTP of more than 94%, not starting from 96%, as I would’ve liked. The payouts from the land-based machines have been carried to the online side as well, and here they can’t compete very well.
