Cosmic Eclipse
Cosmic Eclipse
  • Release: Dec 2017
  • Soft: NetEnt
  • RTP: 96.52%
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 10
  • Mobile: Yes

Cosmic Eclipse is a new NetEnt slot machine that is produced in collaboration with the Betsson Group, to which it will be an exclusive title, at least for a period of time. Previous collaborations saw the title become available globally after half a year and this might be the case with Cosmic Eclipse as well. As for the theme, it’s based on the universe and the various stellar bodies that are part of it, and that’s something that you can see in the game’s symbols.

Finn and the Swirly Spin
Finn and the Swirly Spin
  • Release: Nov 2017
  • Soft: NetEnt
  • RTP: 96.61%
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: ---
  • Mobile: Yes

One of the most fun and exciting slot machines that NetEnt has prepared for release in 2017 is Finn and the Swirly Spin, a slot machine with a quirky Irish theme, where the obvious main character is a leprechaun.

Twin Spin Deluxe
Twin Spin Deluxe
  • Release: Nov 2017
  • Soft: NetEnt
  • RTP: 96.61%
  • Reels: 6
  • Lines: ---
  • Mobile: Yes

The Deluxe version for Twin Spin is here, and this sequel has been turned into a game which has the Cluster Pays system instead of ways to win, as well as more reels and more symbols on each of its columns. NetEnt improved the game significantly with this new release, especially when it comes to the quality of its graphics, but they’ve kept the same classic theme.

Blood Suckers II
Blood Suckers II
  • Release: Oct 2017
  • Soft: NetEnt
  • RTP: 96.94%
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 25
  • Mobile: Yes

Blood Suckers II is a slot machine that is officially now part of a series, being the second one with this title to be released by NetEnt. Just like the first game, this one is also inspired by vampires, and you’re going to see them on the reels both as charming characters and as monsters.

The Legend of Shangri-La: Cluster Pays
The Legend of Shangri-La: Cluster Pays
  • Release: Sept 2017
  • Soft: NetEnt
  • RTP: 96.59%
  • Reels: 6
  • Lines: ---
  • Mobile: Yes

The Legend of Shangri-La: Cluster Pays tells you from its title two major things about it, the theme and the way it pays its players. The idea of the mythical paradise which is hidden away somewhere on Earth is coming from an old book, while the cluster pays system is a new one and still not available in too many slot machines.

Planet of the Apes
Planet of the Apes
  • Release: Sept 2017
  • Soft: NetEnt
  • RTP: 96.33%
  • Reels: 10
  • Lines: 40
  • Mobile: Yes

Planet of the Apes is a NetEnt branded slot release, a game that’s apparently based on the recently launched “War for the Planet of the Apes”, a 2017 science fiction film. It appears that they have put a lot of effort into this game, using the graphics, animations and unique features to turn this into a must play title. One of the obvious things to check out is the use of 10 reels, 5 for each of the two sides (Rise and Dawn), with a total of 40 active lines on them. There will be two types of symbols for the two sides, two scatters, bonus symbols, a Dual and a Rise Bonus games, stacked wilds and free spins. With so many features offered, the rewards couldn’t have been very high, and so the most you can get is $10,000 apparently, offered through scatters.

Emoji Planet
Emoji Planet
  • Release: Aug 2017
  • Soft: NetEnt
  • RTP: 94.94%
  • Reels: 7
  • Lines: 30
  • Mobile: Yes

Emoji Planet is as modern a slot machine as you can get, at least when it comes to the theme. The features and layout it uses aren’t that regular either, so this is one of the slot machines where NetEnt chose to adventure farther than they did with their previous releases. I’m not that happy about the design quality of the slot though, or at least of the style in which they created its look. The slot doesn’t use regular lines, preferring a 6x5 reels look that will pay with the help of clusters of symbols. It’s generous enough with its rewards, offering up to $100,000 and using a wild symbol and five other bonuses that aren’t very difficult to trigger.

The Phantom of the Opera
The Phantom of the Opera
  • Release: Jul 2017
  • Soft: NetEnt
  • RTP: 96.57%
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 40
  • Mobile: Yes

The Phantom of the Opera is a game that’s created by NetEnt and offered to all fans of the musical or any of the other movies that were released based on this story. With the action taking place inside a theater, it’s time for us to check out everything else it has to offer, especially feature wise.

Butterfly Staxx
Butterfly Staxx
  • Release: Jun 2017
  • Soft: NetEnt
  • RTP: 96.8%
  • Reels: 6
  • Lines: 40
  • Mobile: Yes

Butterfly Staxx is coming to us via NetEnt and it is a beautiful nature themed game, one which obviously has butterflies and flowers showing on most positions on its reels. There are things to set it apart from similarly themed games, and I’m mostly mentioning the paper craft like quality of some of its elements.

Fruit Spin
Fruit Spin
  • Release: Jun 2017
  • Soft: NetEnt
  • RTP: 96.84%
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 40
  • Mobile: Yes

Fruit Spin has been designed as a more classic game than most that are part of NetEnt’s collection. The game uses fruit and classic symbols on most of its positions, though with modern versions of those old graphics. It’s one of the few slot machines where I actually enjoyed seeing those very common types of icons.

Copy Cats
Copy Cats
  • Release: May 2017
  • Soft: NetEnt
  • RTP: 96.76%
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 25
  • Mobile: Yes

Copy Cats has been designed as a slot machine that uses as heroes a band of alley cats, funny looking creatures that were designed in an attractive cartoon style, which could be at home at any of the major movie studios. The creator of this design is NetEnt, so the quality of the design shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Fairytale Legends Hansel and Gretel
Fairytale Legends Hansel and Gretel
  • Release: Apr 2017
  • Soft: NetEnt
  • RTP: 96.71%
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 10
  • Mobile: Yes

Part of the Fairytale Legends series, Hansel and Gretel is a slot machine that’s offered by NetEnt. The game follows the story of two young children, as they encounter a witch in the woods. It’s a bit of a cautionary tale for children from the Middle Ages, but it’s still loved and enjoyed today. NetEnt has a full series of fairytales that it puts into slot machine form, and as usual they do a great job with it.

Jungle Spirit: Call of the Wild
Jungle Spirit: Call of the Wild
  • Release: Mar 2017
  • Soft: NetEnt
  • RTP: 96.47%
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 243
  • Mobile: Yes

NetEnt is the creator behind Jungle Spirit: Call of the Wild, a slot machine where they are taking us deep into ancient jungle forests, in search for the ruins left behind by some long lost civilizations. Some of the graphics seem to indicate this ancient connection, but the better paying symbols are the ones with wild life and flowers.

Wolf Cub
Wolf Cub
  • Release: Feb 2017
  • Soft: NetEnt
  • RTP: 96.34%
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 20
  • Mobile: Yes

Wolf Cub might have a baby wolf in the main role, but overall this seems to be mostly a game about the creatures of the forest, as they go through the winter season. The developer being NetEnt, you can naturally expect for high end graphics from it, along with a decent spread of features, but more on that below.

Wild Wild West
Wild Wild West
  • Release: Feb 2017
  • Soft: NetEnt
  • RTP: 96.70%
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 10
  • Mobile: Yes

Wild Wild West: The Great Train Heist is not just a slot machine with a longer than average title. It’s also a beautifully crafted game, one where the action revolves around the bandits that are trying to rob a train, somewhere in the American Wild West. It’s the typical story for a lot of Western movies, and it’s something that I’ve seen approached in several latest slot machines as well.

Scruffy Duck
Scruffy Duck
  • Release: Jan 2017
  • Soft: NetEnt
  • RTP: 96.38%
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 25
  • Mobile: Yes

Scruffy Duck is a game that looks great and which is inspired by the story of the ugly duckling, the one that turns into a beautiful swan once it grows up. NetEnt seems to have a big focus on fairytales and stories these days, and I like what they’re doing in this area.

Divine Fortune
Divine Fortune
  • Release: Jan 2017
  • Soft: NetEnt
  • RTP: 96.59%
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 20
  • Mobile: Yes

Divine Fortune is a release that comes from NetEnt and it is a slot machine where they’ve chosen to focus on creatures from ancient mythology. Relying on Ancient Greece for inspiration, this isn’t one of their more innovative titles, but it does have some advantages as well.

NetEnt is a company which originates from Sweden and which is one of the first to have designed software and games for the online casino industry. They’ve been established back in 1996 and they have a number of firsts to their name, innovations that allowed them to get to the point where they are today, among the leaders of the online gambling industry. There are over 300 casino sites that use their software as licensees, so finding one where you can play their games is not difficult at all. With some of the best games around, particularly their slot machines, it’s not a surprise that they’re so popular.

NetEnt is a Malta licensed company, but it is based in Sweden and you can find it listed at Stockholm’s NASDAQ OMX. Their content is translated in over 20 languages, and more are going to be added in the future, so the games and casinos that offer them are easily accessible all over the world. The RNG generator of their software was tested by two different independent auditors. To play their games, you just need to access the casino and the content will load up in your browser. They have instant play games, so you are not asked to download anything.

History

Behind NetEnt’s foray into the online casino industry stood a big casino operator from the Scandinavia region. They saw the potential of the online casino industry back in the 90s, and they started another company for the online branch in 1996, one of the first to do so. There was no software available back then that they would be satisfied with, so they created their own. Eventually, they gave up on their own online casinos in 2005 and now they focus only on offering software to other sites.

In 2006, the casino module offered by NetEnt was considered a top 20 offer by the industry and has been constantly improved since then. Their first mobile games were released to the market in 2011, the same year when they entered Italy, a market that was newly regulated. The next year they entered the Danish market as well, and they signed a couple of big agreements with Paddy Power and Boylesports.

NetEnt launched their Live Casino offer in 2013, while continuing to expand to new customers and adding more mobile content. They did even better in 2014, when 31 new customers were brought onboard, including big names like Betfair and bwin.party. They also started designing games only in HTML5, which worked just as well on mobile and desktop. They made a move from the online to the offline market in 2015, when land based machines got some of their games. The mobile live casino was released in 2016 and at that point about 39% of their revenues originated from this segment of the market.

NetEnt Casino Games

NetEnt is a major developer and has a big collection of games to offer their licensees. Over 200 games are offered at their casinos, out of which about 130 are the slot machines that have made them so popular among players. The games that they offer are mostly HTML5 titles, and even the older Flash based titles are being redesigned and brought to modern standards. All their titles are browser based and are easily accessible as a result. Most of them are also available on mobile devices, especially if they were made in HTML5.

The content they offer includes all the table games, video poker or slot machines you could want, but it also has live dealer titles and a mobile casino module. I’d say that the slot machines will give you the best reason to pay attention to them.

The 130 or so slots that are in NetEnt’s collection are among the best games that the online casino industry will offer. There are many other developers that have entertaining slots machines in their collection, but few do as good a job with their games on average, as NetEnt does with theirs. Simply put, it’s rare for them to screw up a slot machine, and most of them have excellent graphics and features to offer.

There are way too many great slot machines from NetEnt to be able to mention them all, so I will just give you a couple of examples, of slot machines that are favorites of mine. I’ve picked a couple that have unique themes, at least partially, and which also have a bit of humor in them. Slots like Wonky Wabbits and When Pigs Fly should provide you with plenty of entertainment. NetEnt continues to release new games each month, one or two titles usually, so their casinos always have new high quality content for players.

Graphics

The graphics is one of the big strengths that I think NetEnt has when compared with most developers. They’re not the only ones offering great designs, but their attention to detail is very high and on average I expect more from their new releases than from any other company. Whether you’re playing a game like Wild Turkey, Wild Water or Tornado Farm Escape, I’m sure that you will enjoy the design.

Features

NetEnt is one of the few developers of slot machines that offer it all, from graphics to features, and even big payouts in some cases. The first two constitute their biggest strengths though, and the features always seem to be interesting in the slots they design. It varies from one title to another, but usually there is a lot more going on in a slot of theirs, than in an average game. All types of wilds (expanding, regular, stacked, with multipliers), along with scatters, free spins, bonus games and interesting and unique features, these are things that you will have access to in slots from NetEnt.

Payouts

Mostly, the payouts coming from NetEnt tend to be on the small side, but that’s just because you’re getting a lot of features. They have plenty of slots with payouts of 500x to 1,000x, or even lower than that. They also have fairly high average RTP in their games, so in the long run you can still count on getting a decent shot at getting a good return on the amount you invest.
