Blue Wizard

Blue Wizard is one of the fantasy-themed slots that you’re going to find in Playtech’s collection. The game’s graphics will do a great job at taking the player into that kind of world, while features and payouts look impressive enough that they might convert even those that aren’t sure about the story.

If you have a soft spot for slot machines with Asian themes, then Playtech’s Eternal Lady might be just the game for you. Lucky U
  • Release: May 2019
  • Soft: Playtech
  • RTP: 96.05%
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 5
  • Mobile: Yes

With elements of mysticism, decent top payouts and a low number of lines, Lucky U is a fairly simple video slot overall, but with good graphics. It appears to borrow from the zodiac signs, it uses luck and fortune teller related icons as well, so overall I’m not quite sure what to make of it. It’s a decent design though, in the usual line that Playtech got us used to.

Dragon Bond
  • Release: June 2019
  • Soft: Playtech
  • RTP: 96.86%
  • Reels: 6
  • Lines: 50
  • Mobile: Yes

One of quite a few slots which Playtech has announced for the summer of 2019, Dragon Bond borrows from the legends of Asia, relying on the local dragons for inspiration, as well as on some of the creatures that are found in the region. It’s got the right RTP and several good features, but more on that below.

Ascot: Sporting Legends is a Playtech release, and a slot machine which has been dedicated to one of the biggest events of the horse racing world. It’s taking part at Ascot Racecourse each year, and it’s both a way for those involved to meet, and a horse race where some of the world’s best thoroughbreds take part in. Playtech chose to design a slot machine based on it, and to release it for the 2019 edition of this event.

Tiger Turtle Dragon Phoenix
  • Release: May 2019
  • Soft: Playtech
  • RTP: 96.94%
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 243

Sporting an Asian inspired design, Tiger Turtle Dragon Phoenix is based on four legendary creatures which are often mentioned by China’s stories. These four are often part of slot machines focusing on this country, and obviously we see them in this game as well. It’s capable of paying very well, and it has several other advantages, so if you want to check it out look for Playtech powered casinos.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to spin the reels of this slot machine, trying your luck for the top prize of up to $1,000,000 and enjoying the spy themed graphics. Joke aside, Spy Rise is a beautifully designed slot machine from Playtech, one of my favorites in terms of graphics, at least from their collection.

Sky Queen
  • Release: Apr 2019
  • Soft: Playtech
  • RTP: 96.50%
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 50
  • Mobile: Yes

Sky Queen is a game where we explore the Mayan civilization, and we take a look at their art and culture. This Playtech slot has quite a bit more to offer, than just Mayan style graphics, as it also has several fixed jackpots and features which should make the action interesting, all while going after a decent-sized prize.

Casino Charms
  • Release: May 2019
  • Soft: Playtech

Casino Charms appears to be focusing on what happens on the casino floor. As such, it will show off various images that are gambling related, but it will not neglect showing beautiful women as well. It’s not a typical classic game, though it might look like one in part. This is also a Playtech slot machine.

Taking us to Ancient Egypt and with the action revolving around beautiful Cleopatra and scarab beetles, this new Playtech slot doesn’t show much originality to start with, but things start picking up once you check out some of its features and prize potential.

Bombs
  • Release: Mar 2019

  • RTP: ---
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 20

Bombs is clearly not your typical casino slot machine, but that doesn’t mean that it’s unique in every single way. On the contrary, it relies on a pirate theme which has seen heavy use in slots, but at least it manages to turn it into a pro, not a con. It’s a Playtech release with awesome graphics and unique features, which offers you quite a few opportunities to have fun.

The Flash
  • Release: Apr 2019
  • Soft: Playtech

The Flash’s story, in its comic book form, is being told in this new branded release from Playtech. It’s a story about fast superheroes and villains, and you’re seeing them all as characters on the reels of this slot. The game benefits from the comic book style graphics that belong in a title like this, along with the usual DC Comics jackpots and features that you should be paying attention to. Glory and Britannia is a Playtech release, and a slot machine which the developer has dedicated to some of the biggest personalities from Britain’s past, whether real or from stories. From Robin Hood, to King Arthur or Templar Knights, you get a total of seven personalities inside, and the modern graphics to go with a cool new theme.

Playtech is one of the giants that are active in the online gaming industry, offering hundreds of casino games, including over 180 slots, to their 140 global licensees, in 20 different regulated jurisdictions. They have offices in 17 different countries and they have over 5,000 employees. As you can tell yourself, this is no small company, and obviously they have been around the block for a while now.

Playtech was founded back in 1999, and they originate from Tartu, in Estonia. The founders of the company already had a history with the casino industry, but some of them had backgrounds in the multimedia or software engineering spaces.

The products which are part of their portfolio give casinos more than 600 titles, plus the option to also include modules for virtual sports, sports betting, poker, live dealer content and lottery. The land-based category isn’t neglected either, and they have a number of solutions for those clients as well.

History

As I mentioned previously, the story of Playtech began in 1999. It took them a couple of years to build up their content and to get the first casino licensees, but the first one came around in 2001. Fast forward a couple of years, to 2004, and that’s when Playtech created their first iPoker network, the largest one of its kind. On March 28th, 2006, Playtech started being traded at the London Stock Exchange, in the AIM market. They expanded that same year, by acquiring a provider of poker software, called Tribeca Tables Europe, which used to work with partners like Paddy Power Poker or VCPoker.

Bingo Broadway was also released in 2006, after which they acquired Videobet, which gave them access to server and land based gaming terminals. Because they were growing rapidly, they created Playtech Academy in their home country, Estonia, plus they opened up a Bulgarian development centre.

With the start of 2007, the company got a new CEO, by the name of Mor Weizer. In the coming years, Playtech continued to expand and to sign new agreements, with land based or online operators. They created a landmark joint venture together with William Hill in 2008. Looking back at their history, it was one of continuous expansion, through agreements, acquisitions and new releases, which explains how they became one of the giants of the casino industry.

Playtech Casino Games

There are hundreds of slot machines that are offered by Playtech, but they have a number of casino titles as well. They offer live dealer games, they have bingo, lottery and table games, to name just a few major categories that they dabble in. I’d say that the slot machines are by far the best represented ones though.

The type of game that you will see at Playtech will be considered modern by most players, and not just because they usually have 5 reels. There are other aspects of the games that lead to this conclusion, and obviously the features would be among those making the slots interesting.

One of the recipes for success that Playtech has followed for most of its history is to have a lot of branded content, so that players can actually relate to the action that takes place inside their games. They have signed agreements with some of the biggest brands around, and so they created slot machines based on The Matrix, The Love Boat, The Mummy, The Flintstones, Daredevil, Captain America, Spiderman, The Dark Knight and dozens of other hugely popular TV series or movies.

Graphics

When you’re working with a large number of games, and you release new ones all the time, you’re bound to have some better than others. The older games in their portfolio don’t have the best graphics, but newer ones do look modern at least. The design quality was never a strong point for Playtech, not even for most of the branded slot machines, which required a bigger investment on their part. Luckily, they’re not ugly games, just more on the average side.

Features

The list of features is among my favorite things about the majority of the Playtech slot machines. These deliver free spins, bonus symbols, scatters wilds and others. You might get a simpler experience from a slot like What’s Cooking, or something very elaborate from The Three Musketeers (bonus games, four types of scatters, multiple smaller features, wilds and free spins).

Payouts

Just how happy you will be with the payouts offered by a slot will depend on a couple of things, such as the other features which can trigger inside. I’ve seen slots of theirs that can pay 10,000x the line bet, and I’ve also noticed others that only go up to 250x. The difference usually comes from the number of features offered, and one isn’t necessarily a better choice than the other based on the top prize alone.

The progressive jackpots are offered in more than a few games that they released over the years. Beach Life and many of the branded slot machines have such prizes to offer, and their value can be very high.
