Lotus Heart
  • Release: Dec 2019
  • Soft: Playtech
  • RTP: 96.15%
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 243
  • Mobile: Yes

Lotus Heart is one of Playtech’s releases, a slot machine which draws inspiration from China and the country’s zodiac signs. It’s obviously getting a bigger focus on the lotus flower, which is not necessarily true of most Chinese themed slots, even though it’s a symbol in a lot of them.

Justice League Comic
  • Release: Nov 2019
  • Soft: Playtech
  • RTP: ---
  • Reels: 6
  • Lines: 25
  • Mobile: Yes

This is the second Justice League themed slot from Playtech’s portfolio, the previous one being launched back in 2017. In this case though, we’re getting the comic book inspired version of the slot, rather than the one based on the movie. Both are branded slots though, and they use the progressive jackpots from DC Comics.

Forest Prince
  • Release: Sept 2019
  • Soft: Playtech
  • RTP: 94.84%
  • Reels: 6
  • Lines: 50
  • Mobile: Yes

The action in Forest Prince will revolve around a deer, the prince of the forest, as this slot machine puts it. We’re seeing a modern design from Playtech, a video slot which places the action in the middle of a forest during the fall season.

Kingdoms Rise: Sands of Fury
  • Release: Oct 2019
  • Soft: Playtech
  • RTP: 96.23%
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 20
  • Mobile: Yes

There is a trilogy of slots, which are all under the Kingdoms Rise brand, and they were all launched at the same time. Sands of Fury is one of those new games, and based on what we’ve seen so far of this fantasy themed series, it looks like it will be one of the major offers in Playtech’s collection, for the next couple of years. For this one, we get a look at a kingdom from a warmer region, a desert being shown in the background as you play.

Kingdoms Rise: Guardians of the Abyss
  • Release: Oct 2019
  • Soft: Playtech
  • RTP: 96.09%
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 25
  • Mobile: Yes

Guardians of the Abyss is among Playtech’s new releases, and it’s part of a trilogy that the developer has released simultaneously. Together with two other slots, they’re all offered under the name Kingdoms Rise. The series looks ready to challenge the popularity of Age of the Gods, another series of games that is available from the same developer.

Kingdoms Rise: Forbidden Forest
  • Release: Oct 2019
  • Soft: Playtech
  • RTP: 95.99%
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 576
  • Mobile: Yes

Kingdoms Rise: Forbidden Forest is one of three games released at the same time, all part of the same series. Kingdoms Rise seems to be a series of slot machines on which Playtech will place emphasis in the future, and from what I’ve seen with this one, we can expect a fantasy inspired collection of games, with excellent graphics and a wide variety of features.

Golden Macaque
  • Release: Oct 2019
  • Soft: Playtech
  • RTP: 96.50%
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 243
  • Mobile: Yes

Based on the stories of China, which will often turn animals into characters, the monkey being an excellent example from one of their more popular legends, Golden Macaque is the latest Playtech slot machine to be announced. It’s a game which will have a similar focus on several other creatures that are either domesticated or wild, in Asia.

Giant Grizzly
  • Release: Sept 2019
  • Soft: Playtech
  • RTP: 96.19%
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 432
  • Mobile: Yes

One of Playtech’s new games, designed by a subsidiary of theirs called Sunfox Games, Giant Grizzly is a cool looking slot machine, with a focus on wildlife, an unusual setup and an excellent mix of features. It should give you all the excitement you could want from a casino game.

Torrente Again
  • Release: Oct 2019
  • Soft: Playtech
  • RTP: 94.51%
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 20
  • Mobile: Yes

Based on a Spanish movie series, Torrente Again is the second branded game which is released by Playtech with the same main character. Torrente is a corrupt cop, a loveable villain that has been turned into a hugely popular series of films in Spain. Playtech made sure to use excellent graphics for this one, and I think that it’s going to be enjoyable for anyone that knows the series.

Age of the Gods: Ruler of the Seas
  • Release: Oct 2019
  • Soft: Playtech
  • RTP: 96.37%
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 30
  • Mobile: Yes

In the Age of the Gods series, the most generous one that you’re going to find in Playtech’s collection, Ruler of the Seas is just the latest slot machine to join it. Quite a few other games have been released in the last couple of years, all of them focusing on the same Ancient Greek era, but with different gods being the source of inspiration in each case. Here, it’s Poseidon that leads the way.

Age of the Gods: Apollo Power
  • Release: Aug 2019
  • Soft: Playtech
  • RTP: 96.47%
  • Reels: 6
  • Lines: 50
  • Mobile: Yes

Apollo Power is a new casino game in a series called Age of the Gods, which is the main selling point for Playtech’s collection these days. They are putting a major emphasis on this series, which has progressive jackpots of its own, along with a mix of features and gameplay styles to go along with its Ancient Greek mythology theme.

Tsai Shens Gift
  • Release: Aug 2019
  • Soft: Playtech
  • RTP: ---
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 50
  • Mobile: Yes

This new Playtech video slot will once again get the god of wealth in the main role. Tsai Shen’s Gift has the right graphics, but its biggest advantage seems to be the features which it incorporates, along with its Fire Blaze Jackpot.

Fear The Bear
  • Release: Aug 2019
  • Soft: Playtech
  • RTP: ---
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 50
  • Mobile: Yes

Fear The Bear doesn’t do a very good job at making itself feared, since it relies on cute koala bears for its main characters. The game will feature plenty of other forest creatures though, and it does a good job at turning the wildlife theme into something cute. It’s one of the slots that you’re going to find in Playtech’s collection.

Buccaneer Blast
  • Release: Aug 2019
  • Soft: Playtech
  • RTP: 96.15%
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 10
  • Mobile: Yes

Though a game like Buccaneer Blast will not feature the most original story around, the truth is that the theme is popular enough among players, and it’s going to be enjoyable anyway. The graphics are great, there are some good features as well, so this slot from Playtech has plenty going for it.

Cascading Cave
  • Release: June 2019
  • Soft: Playtech
  • RTP: 95.83
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 20
  • Mobile: Yes

The action of Cascading Cave will take the player deep inside a cave, a place where someone is mining for gemstones. He’s doing it the old-fashioned way, with a pickaxe to break rocks and a mule to help carry the heavy ore. The game is well designed, and it’s available via Playtech.

Blue Wizard
  • Release: July 2019
  • Soft: Playtech
  • RTP: ---
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 30
  • Mobile: Yes

Blue Wizard is one of the fantasy-themed slots that you’re going to find in Playtech’s collection. The game’s graphics will do a great job at taking the player into that kind of world, while features and payouts look impressive enough that they might convert even those that aren’t sure about the story.

Space Digger
  • Release: July 2019
  • Soft: Playtech
  • RTP: ---
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 20
  • Mobile: Yes

Space Digger is one of the slots with which Playtech aims to innovate, and they’re doing it in a very interesting way. It’s a space themed game, with awesome graphics, and a feature which can be customized by the casino to be available as part of various campaigns, only to certain players which qualify.

Eternal Lady
  • Release: June 2019
  • Soft: Playtech
  • RTP: ---
  • Reels: 5
  • Lines: 50
  • Mobile: Yes

If you have a soft spot for slot machines with Asian themes, then Playtech’s Eternal Lady might be just the game for you. It has adequate top payouts, though not spectacular, and it comes with the right symbols and features to keep you entertained, so it definitely works as a game to get one’s attention.

Playtech is one of the giants that are active in the online gaming industry, offering hundreds of casino games, including over 180 slots, to their 140 global licensees, in 20 different regulated jurisdictions. They have offices in 17 different countries and they have over 5,000 employees. As you can tell yourself, this is no small company, and obviously they have been around the block for a while now.

Playtech was founded back in 1999, and they originate from Tartu, in Estonia. The founders of the company already had a history with the casino industry, but some of them had backgrounds in the multimedia or software engineering spaces.

The products which are part of their portfolio give casinos more than 600 titles, plus the option to also include modules for virtual sports, sports betting, poker, live dealer content and lottery. The land-based category isn’t neglected either, and they have a number of solutions for those clients as well.

History

As I mentioned previously, the story of Playtech began in 1999. It took them a couple of years to build up their content and to get the first casino licensees, but the first one came around in 2001. Fast forward a couple of years, to 2004, and that’s when Playtech created their first iPoker network, the largest one of its kind. On March 28th, 2006, Playtech started being traded at the London Stock Exchange, in the AIM market. They expanded that same year, by acquiring a provider of poker software, called Tribeca Tables Europe, which used to work with partners like Paddy Power Poker or VCPoker.

Bingo Broadway was also released in 2006, after which they acquired Videobet, which gave them access to server and land based gaming terminals. Because they were growing rapidly, they created Playtech Academy in their home country, Estonia, plus they opened up a Bulgarian development centre.

With the start of 2007, the company got a new CEO, by the name of Mor Weizer. In the coming years, Playtech continued to expand and to sign new agreements, with land based or online operators. They created a landmark joint venture together with William Hill in 2008. Looking back at their history, it was one of continuous expansion, through agreements, acquisitions and new releases, which explains how they became one of the giants of the casino industry.

Playtech Casino Games

There are hundreds of slot machines that are offered by Playtech, but they have a number of casino titles as well. They offer live dealer games, they have bingo, lottery and table games, to name just a few major categories that they dabble in. I’d say that the slot machines are by far the best represented ones though.

The type of game that you will see at Playtech will be considered modern by most players, and not just because they usually have 5 reels. There are other aspects of the games that lead to this conclusion, and obviously the features would be among those making the slots interesting.

One of the recipes for success that Playtech has followed for most of its history is to have a lot of branded content, so that players can actually relate to the action that takes place inside their games. They have signed agreements with some of the biggest brands around, and so they created slot machines based on The Matrix, The Love Boat, The Mummy, The Flintstones, Daredevil, Captain America, Spiderman, The Dark Knight and dozens of other hugely popular TV series or movies.

Graphics

When you’re working with a large number of games, and you release new ones all the time, you’re bound to have some better than others. The older games in their portfolio don’t have the best graphics, but newer ones do look modern at least. The design quality was never a strong point for Playtech, not even for most of the branded slot machines, which required a bigger investment on their part. Luckily, they’re not ugly games, just more on the average side.

Features

The list of features is among my favorite things about the majority of the Playtech slot machines. These deliver free spins, bonus symbols, scatters wilds and others. You might get a simpler experience from a slot like What’s Cooking, or something very elaborate from The Three Musketeers (bonus games, four types of scatters, multiple smaller features, wilds and free spins).

Payouts

Just how happy you will be with the payouts offered by a slot will depend on a couple of things, such as the other features which can trigger inside. I’ve seen slots of theirs that can pay 10,000x the line bet, and I’ve also noticed others that only go up to 250x. The difference usually comes from the number of features offered, and one isn’t necessarily a better choice than the other based on the top prize alone.

The progressive jackpots are offered in more than a few games that they released over the years. Beach Life and many of the branded slot machines have such prizes to offer, and their value can be very high.
