The famous hero Achilles is the star of this new Ancient Greek themed slot machine from RTG. It’s called Achilles Deluxe, and of course it’s the improved version of another game from this developer, though one that’s 8 years old at this point. The improvement of this fairly popular slot from their collection is a welcomed one, and we look forward to seeing how it handles.
Achilles Deluxe gives us 5x3 reels, along with the usual 20 lines that so many other slots are offering right now. Wins of up to 2,000x the stake are promised, which is not difficult to believe when you look at the mix of wilds, scatters, free spins and up to 3x multipliers. Add a couple of progressive jackpots to this mix, and it’s already looking like a great option for players.

We’re also seeing free spins here, and it’s my favorite feature in this game, thanks to the 2x or 3x multipliers that could be applied. Depending on the way you get to the free spins, the multiplier applied to all wins will vary.
If the Shield Wilds are the ones triggering the free spins, you get 15, 20 or 25 rounds, in exchange for 3 or more symbols. Before the feature can begin, you make a selection from a new screen, to find out how many free spins will be available to you. In this version of the free spins, 3x multipliers will be applied to all wins obtained when forming combinations.
If the regular Logo scatters are the ones landing 3+ times in view, the game offers you only 10 free spins. You also get a lower multiplier applied to wins, only 2x, so this is definitely the less interesting version of the free spins. Prizes ranging from 3x to 500x the stake, are paid in exchange for having 3 to 5 logo scatters visible at the same time.
Theme & Design
The theme is going to rely on the popular story of Troy, and will feature Achilles, Helen, Paris and Agamemnon, all the main characters. The secondary symbols rely on the usual Royals (9 to Ace). The entire game area is encased in a marble-made structure, looking like a temple of the Greeks. It’s an adequate design, though these days the competition is fierce, and it doesn’t look great by comparison.
Conclusion
I like the Deluxe version of Achilles, a famous game which was launched in 2012, so RTG did take their time with this one. They did a good job adding a Deluxe version, which is more fit for our times, and those that enjoyed the original should give this slot a chance as well.
