Rival Gaming can still come up with excellent slot machines, and they prove it with a 3-reel title, of all things. It’s a slot called Merlin’s Mystical Multipliers, with a magic theme that takes us to the famous wizard’s laboratory, a place of study that’s quite unlike what other games have shown us when it comes to wizard lairs. The game keeps itself accessible to most players, so it’s not too volatile, and the rewards it offers are in line with that.
Merlin’s Mystical Multipliers is going to feature 3x3 reels, with only 3 active lines inside. Wins of up to 600x the stake are on the table, which is fine for a game with low volatility such as this one, but the part that’s less satisfying is the 94.86% RTP. Among its main features, we discover wilds with 7x multipliers.
Betting starts from as little as $0.01, but there is enough room for you to go up, as the maximum possible wager can get to $45 (or $15 per line).
As for the wins that you can go after, they look fine if we take into consideration the game’s volatility. They can end up paying up to 600x the stake in a single spin, which is not bad given the risk involved.
Speaking of risk, while the volatility may be low, the Return to Player is expected to be 94.86%, as a long-term average. It’s below the expected 96% that we want to see in most slots, so that’s one notable downside for this game.
Mostly, what you’re doing is forming winning combinations on the 3 reels, with matching symbols landing on predetermined positions which are part of the 3 active lines.
Help may come from the Multiplier Wild symbol, which is great whenever it happens, because all wins formed with its help will get a 7x boost to the prizes obtained on that line. The image of the wild is that of a 7x golden logo. Wilds may be used as replacements for all other types of symbols available.
Also, it’s the wild’s own combinations that will offer the best prize. Three Multiplier Wilds on the same line will get you paid up to 600 coins each time it happens (600x the stake for a full screen of wilds). On the other hand, even with wilds helping out on all lines, the very best regular symbol pays at most 420x the stake (60x without wilds helping).
Merlin’s Mystical Multipliers gives the theme away immediately, since the connection to King Arthur’s magician can only bring us a slot machine where magic is the star. The magician’s study room is the one where the reels have been placed, apparently somewhere high in a tower. We see a spell book on the right side, and a telescope on the left, with windows allowing plenty of light in, a departure from the usual dark laboratory that magic seems to be associated with.
Its symbols are themed, another element to appreciate in a slot machine which has only 3 reels. The 7x multiplier wild is the top symbol, followed by icons with Wizard Hats, Green Potions, Spell Books, Magic Signs, Jewels, Owls and Cats.
Merlin’s Mystical Multipliers slot has an excellent design to offer the player, along with exciting multipliers, and that could be enough for a casual player. The low RTP and volatility will likely keep a veteran away though.
