The fishing theme is obviously going to be used, and the engine of choice is the one licensed from Big Time Gaming, called Megaways.

Lucky Fishing Megaways has 6 reels with 2-7 symbols on each column, which allows for a maximum of 117,649 ways to win. Unfortunately, even though its volatility is high, the slot pays up to 5,000x the stake. It’s not enough to get players excited about it, and yet a 96.55% RTP is possible (higher if the buy bonus option is used). Several big features are available, such as tumbling Reels, Fisherman Wilds, Fishing Boat bonus, and free spins.

Betting and Prizes

For the complete betting range of Lucky Fishing Megaways, they used the same options as in most of their slots. The range goes from $0.20 to $100.

I’m not entirely happy about the rewards that Lucky Fishing Megaways can deliver at the end of its most successful rounds. 5,000x the stake might be typical for Pragmatic Play’s slots, but in the Megaways category, it’s one of the smallest top jackpots offered, especially when high volatility is expected.

The RTP could go up to 96.55% (96.97% for buy bonus), but I doubt there will be many operators using that setting.

Lucky Fishing Megaways Game Features

After you’ve formed a winning combination, using the ways to win available to you (up to 117,649 ways from 6 reels), the game will trigger a Tumble mechanic. It gets rid of the symbols that already paid you, and the ones replacing them could produce additional combinations and tumbles.

A Fisherman Wild is present on the horizontal reel, at the top of reels 2-5. It’s a substitute for regular symbols.

Horizontally double-stacked Fishing Boat symbols could also land at the top of the middle four reels, on the extra reel. If it’s fully visible, it will transform the symbols from the reels beneath it into extra wilds.

Additionally, there are 10 to 30 free spins that the player can trigger when he gets 4 to 9 scatters anywhere on the reels. They’ve added a progressive multiplier, going from 1x upwards. A 1x increase is possible after each trigger of the tumble mechanic.

Theme & Design

It’s a common fishing-themed design, using images of fish for the top four symbols, and of the Royals for the next six. The Fisherman, the Fishing Boat, and a Treasure Chest scatter will be its feature triggers.

Conclusion

I appreciated the mix of features and the graphics of the Lucky Fishing Megaways slot game demo, and the RTP isn’t bad either. What I wanted more of, is the very low top jackpot of 5,000x the stake.
