Like many other developers, Pragmatic Play has licensed the Megaways engine from Big Time Gaming, and it allowed them to put out their own versions of these highly volatile slot machines. Legend of Heroes Megaways is their interpretation of how such a game should be like, and you will notice that they prefer to offer smaller top prizes, even as they include some unique features inside.

After forming winning combinations through the ways to win, you’re going through Tumbles that remove those symbols. New symbols will drop, and the Tumbles can continue if new wins form.
Regular wild symbols are dropping on the horizontal reel, at the top of reels 2-5. They act as substitutes from there.
The Big Wild is stacked horizontally, and it can land on the same set of 4 symbols at the top. It’s only used as a substitute, and it has an additional modifier to apply. Its presence needs to be full, and if it is, then all the symbols shown on the reels below those two positions are turned into wilds.
Finally, we have the scatter symbol, which leads to the free spins. Having 4 to 9 scatters present gets you 10 to 30 free spins. They use an increasing multiplier, going up by 1x after each win or tumble, the same as in a lot of other Megaways slots.
There is a fantasy connection here, but it appears to borrow from Asian lore, more than anything. There are large fire swords, Dragon scatters, while regular symbols show the emperor, a warrior, a pirate lady, and a fighter. The six low symbols are still Royals, all in gold letters.
I like the Legend of Heroes Megaways demo, particularly at the highest RTP level, but I always want a better top jackpot to go after in free slots like these. Otherwise, they did well in designing features that feel different from those offered in competitor Megaways slots.
