Tired of all the dated-looking fruit slots that developers keep launching on a weekly basis? Joker King is a slightly better option in that regard, though it retains the common theme and symbols. All this, and you’re looking at excellent top wins, some very powerful features, and more reels than you’d count on in such a game. All in all, not a bad slot to look into, though I’ll let you read the rest of the review to find out what its strengths bring to the table.
Joker King features 6x3 reels, so it’s already an option that doesn’t fit nicely into the classic category. It only offers 25 lines for that game area, and it can be much more difficult getting a 6-symbol combo, but you can still walk away with a 5,000x jackpot. The way to do that, is through Joker Wilds which can expand, and scatters which will apply big multipliers and trigger free spins. All in all, an unusual slot for this particular fruit category, and one that has a pretty good RTP as well, which is expected to be 96.50%.
You may select the wager for each individual line, but there will be 25 of them active at all times. You go from a minimum wager of $0.25 per spin, and as you change the amount used per line (through coins and denomination), you can go up to $125 ($5 per line).
It doesn’t sound like it initially, since the regular combinations from Joker King slot will pay up to 6x the stake at most (150x for a full set of 25 combinations), but the potential is to get up to 5,000x the stake in one spin. It uses some fairly impressive multipliers to get there, but getting both enough 6-symbol combinations and scatter multipliers will not be easy, and the volatility is going to be as high as it gets. RTP wise, it’s a 96.50%, a return that most would be OK with.
A grinning Joker King is the star of the show, one of them at least, acting as a wild symbol which has an extra role to play. In addition to the typical substitution that it can help with, the wild also triggers a special feature, where one regular symbol is selected in the game area. All instances of that one symbol will be turned into extra wilds, and then you get paid accordingly. It’s a powerful feature, and an ability that is not usually attached to a wild, so it’s appreciated.
They didn’t stop there though. The scatter symbol which is showing us the Gold Crown can be incredibly powerful as well. For the first time, I’m seeing a scatter symbol bringing multipliers with it, which will be applied to all wins of the round. There are five potential values for the scatter’s multiplier, with the highest at 25x, while the others are 10x, 5x, 3x or 2x. Should several scatters with multipliers appear, you add up their values, and you could get up to 150x multipliers when they’re combined.
At the same time, the slot’s scatters are also going to be used to trigger free spins. Depending on their numbers, between 3 and 6 being required, you trigger 8 to 20 free spins. You will retrigger them in the same manner, but otherwise nothing changes, they’re as powerful as the paid spins when it comes to available features.
Leaving the fruit theme aside, Joker King is not a bad looking slot machine. The quality is above and beyond what I’d expect to find in a classic title, but so is everything else about it. The setup does look unusual, with its 6 reels, but it’s not going to take away anything from the experience.
If you care about the symbols which are introduced, the Joker King is the wild, while the Gold Crown is a scatter. Beyond that, you have the regulars, with Stars, Lucky Sevens, Bar logos, Cherries, Plums and Oranges representing them.
Joker King is one of the more impressive fruit themed real money slots that I’ve come across lately, a game which manages to surprise even as it uses some very common feature symbols, such as wilds and scatter. If you’re OK with its high volatility, then this is a game that I’d recommend.
