Gods of Oblivion might take us to Ancient Egypt, but the story behind it seems to mention alien creatures coming down on Earth in their pyramids as gods. It’s not an entirely new idea, but I haven’t seen it explored in too many modern slots, so I welcome this new release from Pragmatic Play.
As for the type of setup they’ve gone with, it’s got 7x7 reels and the Cluster Pays engine. With the 5,000x top jackpot that you can go after and the high volatility that’s coupled with an RTP range that has a 94.50% version that I’d avoid, it’s not the sort of slot machine that most players would be impressed with. The mix of special features includes tumbling reels, free spins, and multiplier spots (up to 128x).
You have the option of spending as little as $0.20 on the next spin, while at its highest level, the bet allows you to take it up to $240.
A 5,000x top jackpot is typical of a lot of Pragmatic Play slot machines, especially those with high volatility, and it’s not great. We’ve seen plenty of other highly volatile slots that have a bigger payout if you manage to max it out.
The version we played had a 94.50% RTP, but most Pragmatic Play slots will have a version above 96% as well, so I’d look for that one.
The way to play this game is by getting 5 to 15+ matching symbols to group up on the reels, as that’s how they form a cluster. The tumble mechanic follows after any win, removing the winning symbols once you get paid. New symbols drop and additional clusters can form that round, with tumbles coming after those as well.
The explosion of winning symbols brings with it an activation of the position it was on. If this happens twice in a round, the spot in question starts getting a multiplier, which doubles after every new combo formed there. It goes 2x, 4x, 8x, and so on, up to 128x. It resets at the end of the spin.
One more big feature to expect, with 3 to 7 scatters required, will consist of 10 to 30 free spins. You get the multiplier spots sticky for the entire feature, so they only reset at the end.
It’s a beautifully crafted design inspired by Ancient Egypt and its gods, but with floating ships seen in the distance, it almost looks like an alien invasion. The reels get a mix between the symbols showing gemstones, and the images of scarabs, Bastet, Horus, and Anubis.
The Gods of Oblivion slot looks great, and the features offered are decent, but I would only recommend it if you’re not bothered by the relatively low top jackpot. Also, only the 96% RTP version should be used.
