One of Pragmatic Play’s upcoming releases, Emerald King is not the type of slot machine that you’d pay much attention to initially, mostly to its dated graphics. Things will change once you hear about the potential of this game, as its rewards are among the highest we’ve seen so far from this developer. The disappointing part is the design quality, along with the Irish theme which is incredibly common in slots.
Played with 5x3 reels, Emerald King delivers 20 active lines, and through them, potential wins of up to 20,000x the stake are possible. It’s a slot where the volatility is high (5 out of 5 rating), but the 96.51% RTP tells us that it’s not unfair. Among the major features which they’ve included, we find the giant symbols (2x2 and 3x3 sized), along with wilds, win multipliers and a Mini Slots feature.
You’re going to spend $0.20 at the very least, for the slot’s 20 lines. Give the line bet a boost, using the number of coins available and their denomination, and you could end up with $5 line bets and $100 total bets.
While regular symbols don’t pay much (25x the stake per combo), the wild symbols are a different matter, and their own combinations offer 500x the stake for a full line covered (10,000x the stake for a full screen).
A win multiplier is also available, and it can go up at random, so the potential goes up there. For the entire duration of the free spins, there is a limit set to 20,000x the stake, but it will take multiple rounds to get close to that potential.
Pragmatic Play announced that the slot is highly volatile, describing it as a 5 out of 5 on their scale. RTP looks good though, at 96.51%.
Besides the regular sized symbols that are going to be used inside, the game will also have big symbols, sized at 2x2 or 3x3, so you get either 4 or 9 matching symbols when those show up.
Pot of Gold wilds are going to be incredibly profitable when they end up forming their own wins, since they pay up to 500x the stake per line then. Since they’re so valuable, the odds of them showing up even once and helping out with smaller wins, will not be very high. You get these wilds at random as well, if a feature triggers and adds them to the game area.
A win multiplier is shown at the top, and it can go up at random, though only during losing spins. It will stay at that value, and even go up further, until a win is paid and it gets used on the prize. Once that happens, the multiplier resets back to 1x.
There is also a Mini Slots feature, which requires that the background of all reels is green. This happens at random. You get a number of mini slots here, on which you form 3-symbol combinations, using 7s as symbols.
I’ve seen quite a few good looking slot machines from Pragmatic Play over the years, but Emerald King goes the other way, and is likely to be one of the worst. With graphics which look like they were borrowed from slots launched about a decade ago, it doesn’t manage to look good enough for today’s players.
Symbols don’t do any better. You get the Pot of Gold wild, Leprechaun, Royals from 10 to K, grapes and cherries.
Emerald King looks slot promising, if all you care about is potential and features. It can be fun then, provided that you’re willing to ignore the strange graphics, and you know what a high volatility game can be like.
