Pragmatic Play released the original Chilli Heat in 2018, and by the looks of it, the slot was popular enough that it warrants an upgrade now. We’re looking at Chilli Heat Megaways, the high volatility sequel, with a bigger game area and a lot more ways to win, but also with considerably more risk. In terms of layout, Chilli Heat Megaways doesn’t stray too far away from the pack, but it doesn’t rely on the standard setup of a Megaways slot either. Pragmatic Play increased the number of ways to win here, to as many as 200,704, by giving you 1 extra symbol on the middle reels. Each of the 6 reels now has up to 7 symbols, but the horizontal reel from the top of the middle four ones, will add 1 extra (7-8-8-8-8-7 symbols possible).
Once a winning combination is formed, a Tumble mechanic triggers next. The winning symbols are removed, so that others may come down to replace them, and maybe form additional wins.
With the Chilli Heat logo on the reels 2-5, you have a better chance at forming your winning combinations. This one’s the wild, useful only as a substitute for regular symbols, so it can’t help trigger the main feature.
As for the main feature, they replaced the usual free spins, with a Respin feature. To trigger it, you need the Money symbols (money bag icon) landing 6 or more times, in a single round. You will notice that these Money symbols have prizes mentioned on them, and they will carry over those wins to the Respin feature.
The regular symbols are removed, so you’re left with the triggering Money symbols, and you try to get more during the 3 respins that follow. You could also get blanks and other special symbols. When new Money symbols land and are locked, the respins reset back to 3.
At the top, in the four positions shown above reels 2-5, you can get special symbols that will have different outcomes. You can unlock the 1st and 6th reels, you can extend the game area on the middle reels, collect Money symbols immediately, or multiply prizes by up to 10x.
Pragmatic Play kept the original theme here, and even many of the original images. They’ve been improved for this game, but if you know the original, you will not see that many differences in the sequel.
