With the Irish theme being such a popular choice in slot machines, Celtic Gold needs to do quite a bit in other areas, in order to stand out in today’s market. It’s not going to do much in that regard though, and though it has a good RTP and average payouts, I don’t think that Pragmatic Play has a winner on their hands with this one. When it comes to rewards, Celtic Gold is capable of doing a decent job, since it offers up to 500x total stake back to you, or $125,000 at the highest wager. It’s not the best return around, more like an average offer, but then again this is considered a slot with medium volatility, not high.
One final element that I enjoyed seeing, is a decent sized RTP. The Return to Player is set to 96.53%, which is above the industry average right now, though not by much.
The favorite symbol for a lot of players, probably all of them actually, will be the one showing the Wild Rainbow. Coming in stacked, you could get it to land on all reels and occupy up to four positions on them. Since it pays the most, up to 8x total stake per combo of 5 wilds, it’s the most profitable symbol around. On other occasions, the wild will be just a simple substitute, but if that happens it still gets you paid.
Triggering the bonus game is possible via bonus symbols on the first, third and fifth reels. The game gives you a pick of a pot, and it will reveal a prize for you. It could be a small reward of 1x total bet, which is more of a consolation prize, or it could end up being a big reward of 10x to 500x total stake, as well as two types of free spins. One version of the free spins will get 10 rounds with raining wilds, while the other has 6 spins with sticky wilds.
This is the part that’s weakest, in my opinion. Not only is the Irish theme extremely common, but the graphics quality in Celtic Gold is average at best, and it just doesn’t look like they’ve put too much effort into it. The symbols revolve around Celtic-style Royals for lower icons, while higher ones get harps, horseshoes, coins or clovers. Feature symbols take the form of the Wild Rainbow and the Tree Bonus.
Celtic Gold looks good for a medium volatility title, feature and payout wise at least, but the theme it uses and the actual design are quite basic.
