8 Dragons’ title reflects its theme very well. On one hand, we have the number 8, which the Chinese consider lucky. On the other hand, we got the Asian Dragons, which are also typical for the culture of this country and tend to look different than the ones that are mentioned in Europe’s legends. Pragmatic Play created this game and it’s one of their many slots that are based on something that comes from China.
8 Dragons gives us 20 active lines, spins 5 reels and with the right type of free games and wilds, it could pay as much as $37,500. The features do include wilds, multipliers, free spins and scatters, so they’re fairly typical, even though they can be impressive at times due to certain particularities and abilities that they have.
Betting and Prizes
You don’t get much variety in the betting systems that Pragmatic Play relies on. The 20 fixed lines which you will be placing bets on are getting between 1 and 10 coins each. There is a coin value to choose as well, going between $0.01 and $0.50. You can have wagers of $0.20 to $100 for each round, the amount per line not going past $5.
If you look at the game’s bigger payouts, they typically don’t go past $2,500, but in certain features the multipliers applied by the wilds are high enough to take the reward up to $37,500. The RTP was set to a pretty good number, of 96.37%.
8 Dragons Slot Features
The more interesting part of the game comes via the features. We have the wild symbol for one, with the image of a two headed Asian Dragon representing it. This is a substitute most of the time, used in combination with symbols that act the regular way, so they’re not scatters. There are only three reels that can get these wilds, the middle ones, and there they will appear stacked and covering 1 or 2 positions. The spin’s total win is multiplied by 2x when you get a full wild stack to appear on one of those reels.
The slot also uses mystery stacked symbols, on all reels. Each round, there will be one paying symbol selected to act in this role.
Scatter symbols which sport the image of a Red Envelope will be triggers for the free spins. Three are needed at a minimum, before you can access the feature.
The slot will offer you five options to choose from, when it comes to the free spins. The number of free spins is different in each case, as is the multiplier that will be applied by the stacked wilds.
The smallest number of free spins can be at just 5 rounds, but with the multipliers from the wilds being at 8x, 10x or 15x. The largest number of free spins delivers 20 rounds, but the multipliers of the wilds are going to be at 2x, 3x or 4x. A fifth option exists, to select a random number of free spins and a random wild multiplier.
Theme & Design
The theme of the game is one of the least interesting things about it. I’ve got nothing with the Chinese theme, but it’s so common in slot machines that a game can only differentiate itself with its features if it goes this route. As symbols, the images vary and go from the usual card logos, to dragons, tigers, gold fish, gold coins, red envelopes and gold ingots.
8 Dragons doesn’t make a great first impression, but once you take a look at its features I’m certain that you will want to play it.
