Spy Rise Slot Machine Review

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to spin the reels of this slot machine, trying your luck for the top prize of up to $1,000,000 and enjoying the spy themed graphics. Joke aside, Spy Rise is a beautifully designed slot machine from Playtech, one of my favorites in terms of graphics, at least from their collection.

Spy Rise has a game area which delivers 5x4 reels and a total of 40 active paylines. You can win big, even up to $1,000,000, and to get there you will get help from wilds, upgraded symbols, scatters and free spins. In case that’s not a good enough of a motivator, there is also a progressive jackpot to win. All the while, the game has an RTP of 95.02%, which is actually one of its weaker points.

Betting and Prizes

The bets are worth talking about, as there are additional options available, which can improve your chances at a big prize, but they will also cost you more each round. The regular betting range starts from a minimum of $0.20 and will go as high as $100. With each symbol that you choose to upgrade via the Feature Bet, the amount wagered will go up, to $150, $200, $250 and $300 (1 to 4 upgraded symbols, when using the maximum bet).

The best payout that could be yours in Spy Rise, the progressive jackpot is triggered via the game’s symbol, so it’s not a random trigger. The alternative is to form winning combinations with wilds or upgraded symbols, the best of which will pay $25,000 on each line (with the feature bet active). Considering all the game’s lines, you could be looking at a jackpot of $1,000,000 (3,333x the stake).

It sounds pretty good so far, but then we take a look at the RTP that’s available, and at 95.02% this one isn’t a figure to be very happy with. Generally, I expect new slot machines to come with a 96% or higher RTP, to be worth considering.

Spy Rise Game Features

The ability to upgrade symbols will be very important in this game, and it will improve the payouts coming from the wilds as well. Wilds end up paying as much as $25,000 per payline, up from the $5,000 offered without feature bets active. Naturally, it’s also used as a substitute, when it appears next to regular symbols.

Spy Rise logos will sometimes appear on the 1st, 3rd and 5th reels of the game. Together, these scatters give you access to the slot’s free spins. The 10 free spins will have winning combinations forming both ways, and if there were upgraded symbols in the triggering round, they are available in the feature as well.

Access to the progressive jackpot is obtained via 5 red reels, which you need to land at the same time.

Theme & Design

It’s a spy themed game, and a good looking one at that. You have images of various currency symbols for the low positions (Bitcoin, US Dollar, British Pound, Yen, Euro), followed by watches, sports cars and two spies. The features come via logo icons. The quality of the design is what impressed me most of all, definitely one of the big pros for this slot.

Conclusion

Spy Rise gives the player a good mix of features, some huge potential payouts and pretty graphics, but the below average RTP doesn’t work in its favor.
