Guardians of the Abyss is among Playtech’s new releases, and it’s part of a trilogy that the developer has released simultaneously. Together with two other slots, they’re all offered under the name Kingdoms Rise. The series looks ready to challenge the popularity of Age of the Gods, another series of games that is available from the same developer.
We’re seeing a 5 reel game, with 3 symbols per column, which offers 25 fixed lines in total. Together, the game’s winning combinations will offer up to 1,250x total stake back, a fair amount, especially once you take into account that progressive jackpots are also on the line. There is also a list of features, which the game has filled with wild symbols, Shell scatters, a Guardians Bonus and the resulting features (Odeon, Akali and Jax Free Spins).
You may select the bet for the upcoming round, but you don’t have to worry about the line bet. Figure out how much you want to spend each round, and then select that value, provided that it’s within a range of $0.10 to $300, which the game uses.
Guardians of the Abyss will give you two types of prizes. One of them comes in the form of rewards paid for regular combinations, even up to 1,250 coins paid for each one you form. The other will provide you with progressive jackpots (Epic, Power Strike and Daily Strike variants), and while they’re not as easy to trigger, they do have considerable higher value, in the best case scenario.
Out of the 96.09% RTP which the game announces, 3% appears to be coming in the form of a progressive jackpot, so the game by itself is not doing great.
One of the first features that you will probably encounter, the W logo is the slot’s wild. Besides acting as a replacement, which will boost the winning chances quite a bit in the long run, the slot also has its own winning combinations to form. At best, the game pays 1,250x for a combo formed out of wilds only.
For its scatters, the game uses the image of Shells, symbols which you need on three reels from the middle of the game area. Each shell will reveal a different thing, from the version of the free spins, to their number, or the feature’s power.
Odeon: in this version of the free spins, we see Odeon symbols added to the reels, in random locations.
Akali: here, we get free spins with random wilds on the reels.
Jax: his version of the free games will offer a random multiplier, to apply to a wild symbol, if it lands that round.
As you play the game, you may also find tokens in some of the symbols landing on the reels. These you collect, and once you get enough, you can buy features from the game’s shop.
It’s the same fantasy inspired design as in the other slots of Kingdoms Rise. Here, we get a look at several rulers of those kingdoms. Besides the image of the W wild, or the Shell scatter, there are icons with Odeon, Akali and Jax, the slot’s main characters. The next three symbols appear to show weapons which correspond to the three characters. The final four symbols get images of gemstones.
Kingdoms Rise: Guardians of the Abyss looks interesting, especially since a progressive jackpot is also part of it. Otherwise, the game’s features will help make it fun, the graphics are very good, and overall it looks like a decent series of slots.
