Gladiator: Road to Rome is a game that was built by Playtech, as a branded slot machine that is based on a 2000 film, one which was directed by Ridley Scott. Gladiator made waves at the time of its release, but I’m not so sure that the slot machine will do the same.
In this game, you will have 5 reels that sport a total of 25 active lines. The game will have a progressive jackpot to give away, along with other rewards, of up to $45,000 with the right features helping out. As for those features, they have for you wild symbols, bonus symbols, scatters, free spins, multipliers and wild nudges.
Betting and Prizes
You can set up the wager for 25 fixed lines, with bet values starting from a minimum of $0.25. Taking the line bet up to as much as $5, the total bet is increased as well, reaching $125.
One of the rewards available in this game is the fixed one, offered by the Gladiator Wild, with up to $5,000 available through its combinations. Certain multipliers from the free spins will take it up to $45,000 at most. A good alternative would be the progressive jackpot that’s coming with this game, and whose value you can see in the top right corner. The RTP of the game is at 95.05%, a figure that I’m not completely satisfied with.
Gladiator: Road to Rome Slot Features
Among the features that the game puts forward, you will discover a stacked Gladiator Wild symbol, which I found to be very useful. Appearing on all reels, it can be a regular symbol when it appears in its standard form, but it will turn into a wild symbol when it appears stacked. It’s a bit of a downside here, as I would’ve preferred to have it as a wild all the time, but I’ll take it even so. The wild is capable of paying up to $5,000 when it is forming its own combo.
The Shield with Weapons symbol is the scatter of Gladiator: Road to Rome. If you have 3, 4 or 5 symbols in scattered locations, the game will give you 5, 8 or 12 free spins, respectively. It will also give you extra features, which are picked at random from a bonus game screen with 12 shields on it. There are three picks to be made here.
The extra features that you can get at this point can include extra free spins, win multipliers that could reach 9x, payout boosts of up to 5x for a single symbol, extra wilds, symbols that pay as scatters, or even the Gladiator Wild Nudge.
The Gladiator Bonus is the third major feature that is introduced in this game. It starts via the Helmet Bonus symbol, when appearing at the same time on the middle three columns. You get 9 helmets picked at random for you, with rewards varying based on the material of the helmets (bronze, silver or gold). If you get 9 gold helmets, then you trigger a progressive jackpot.
Theme & Design
Gladiator: Road to Rome is based on a film from 2000, which proved quite popular at the time. It had Russell Crowe in the main role, but unfortunately, we don’t see his photo among the ones used for symbols in this game. We do see other major actors from the film though, such as Joaquin Phoenix, Sven-Ole Thorsen, Oliver Reed and Connie Nielsen. Besides these actors, you also have images of playing cards and of things like shields or helmets.
Gladiator: Road to Rome pays homage to an older film, and it looks the part a bit, so you will not mistake it for a slot machine with a modern design.
