Playtech is preparing an entire series under the Gem Splash brand, and Rainbows Gift is one of them, a slot machine with an Irish and luck inspired theme. It’s the type of thing that plenty of other slots have done in the past, but this one has its own arguments in its favor, including three progressive jackpots that should get more players interested.
It’s a fairly large game area, with 5x4 reels, and yet only 30 active lines are going to be available there. It doesn’t look like the type to promise huge rewards, as the base game can pay at most 480x the stake, and yet there will be three progressive jackpots to trigger at random. That could make the game more appealing, even as the regular spins prove to be aimed mostly at the casual player. A bit of help will come through the game’s free spins, or through the Gem Splash bonus, which appears to be the main focus for it. RTP is more than OK, at 96.46%.
You can bet low, even as little as $0.10 per spin, but the total bet can also be increased to a high-roller worthy amount, of up to $500 per spin.
If you look only at the slot’s own rewards, I doubt you will be impressed with what you’re seeing. A top jackpot of 480x the stake is announced, which is enough for some games, but this one appears to have medium to high volatility.
On the other hand, the game does have three progressive jackpots which could trigger, though this happens at random and it doesn’t even give you the illusion that your own luck brings them around. These jackpots are called Grand, Major and Minor.
Finally, it’s a game with an above average Return to Player, set to 96.46%, which means that it pays about as much as any other slot in the long run, regardless of how low the jackpot might be.
Among the big feature symbols, the Gem Splash icon is especially noteworthy. It’s colored green, and it can land on the reels and hope for a Gem Drop to show up on it. This means that only a combination between the Purple Gem Drops (overlay symbols) and the Green Gem Splash Logo, will get you the feature in question. It pays up to 100x the stake as well, following which the Gem Drop icon will go one position downwards, trying to find more Gem Splash symbols and get you paid again. The starting point of the Gem Drop can be anywhere, even at the top of the reels.
The other major feature is going to take the form of free spins, which get triggered via 3 to 5 Pot of Gold symbols, scattered in view. The reward will consist of 8 free spins and a prize of up to 50x the stake.
One advantage would be that the Gem Drops can now appear as overlays which are 2x2 sized, in addition to the regular versions. Payouts for this feature will go up, to as much as 100x for each time it triggers.
As you advance through the free spins, additional rows and lines are added. You start with 5x4 reels and 30 lines, then go to 5x5 and 35 lines, 5x6 and 40, and then 5x7 and 50 lines.
The usual green rolling hills of Ireland are seen in the background, along with the obligatory rainbow that traverses the screen. It’s going to have plenty of green in its design, as expected. Not a bad looking game overall, but the category is filled with similar slot games that have better graphics.
Its symbols include the Gem Splash logo, a Pot of Gold scatter, the Leprechaun, Horseshoes, Harps, Pipes and Royals (J to A).
Gem Splash: Rainbows Gift slot from Playtech should be an acceptable choice for quite a few players, but despite its above average RTP and interesting features, I’m not a big fan of the 480x top payouts which are announced here. On the other hand, the presence of those three progressive jackpots might be enough to get you interested in this slot, so it’s a matter of preference.
