Medusa & Monsters is just the latest game to join the Age of the Gods series, from Playtech. It’s not alone though, several other games being released with that kind of theme already, each one choosing a different story or god from Ancient Greece mythology for inspiration.
One of the things that makes the Age of the Gods series interesting is its use of progressive jackpots, four of them being winnable inside, along with smaller rewards of up to $3,000 per line. The game’s setup is not your standard one, delivering 164 ways to win via 6 reels. It’s also going to have stacked symbols, expanding wilds, shifting wilds or free spins, so it looks like an exciting game to be playing.
Betting and Prizes
There is no need to wonder about the amount that should go to each active line, as the game only lets you select the total bet for each round. There are a number of values to pick from, the range being $0.25 to $500. It’s going to give everyone an amount that they can work with and afford.
Clearly, it’s not the fixed jackpots that are going to be your main target in this game. Those can pay, but a lower amount, typically up to 150 coins for a combo of 6 symbols. The four progressive jackpots are impressive though, and they are shared across the slots that are in the Age of the Gods series, making them go up in value quite fast. The downside is that they trigger at random, so all you can do is just play the slot and hope that you will be one of the very lucky few that gets the big one.
Age of the Gods: Medusa & Monsters Slot Features
Medusa is among the symbols that are used inside, and she’s going to be the wild feature for you. This is a substitute that can replace almost all other symbols, in order to form combinations with existing ones. It’s not a replacement that you’d use with a scatter. This is an expanding wild, which is important since it ends up filling the entire reel if it lands.
The game will use stacked symbols that will have the potential to take over the entire reel, and which typically end up participating in more than one combo at a time, when the game does pay you.
Even the scatters are stacked in this game, appearing on two positions at a time when landing on the 2nd, 4th or 6th reels. Have them appear on all three, to get the free spins feature, called Medusa’s Gaze. A Shield will be chosen first, in order to reveal one of the symbols with bigger rewards. When that symbol shows up, Medusa petrifies it and locks it in its position. You get Medusa on reel 6 and it moves 1 reel towards the left each round. Once she gets to the 1st reel, that will be the end of the free spins.
Theme & Design
Ancient Greece has proven to be fertile ground for the imagination of developers everywhere, and the guys from Playtech seem to have taken it to new levels. They chose the mythology of this civilization and used it for an entire series, a grand one that involves a lot of unique features, high end graphics and different stories. The story of Medusa, the woman with snakes on her head which turned men into stone statues if they looked at her, is the one that we’re following here. Images give us Medusa, Cerberus, Minotaur, Aphrodite, helmets, ships and swords, but also gemstones.
The entire series of Ancient Greece games is worth checking out, and Medusa & Monsters seems to give us the same high quality and cool features as the others.
