The very popular and heavily promoted Age of the Gods series from Playtech has received a new addition to the line-up. This time, it’s Lord of Lightning, a game which appears to be dedicated to Zeus himself, as he’s the god of thunder and of the sky.
Age of the Gods: Lord of Lightning is the sort of slot machine which can offer a progressive jackpot, though there are also rewards as high as $200,000 which can be won inside, giving you back as much as 5,000x the stake. It will deliver several entertaining features on its 5 reels & 20 lines, such as Phoenix scatters and free spins.
Betting and Prizes
For a total of 20 active lines, the bets of Lord of Lightning will require a minimum investment of $0.20, while the upper limit for the wager will be $40. You spend a maximum of $2 for every single line that you have inside.
The slot’s capable of offering excellent rewards, the best rounds paying even as much as 5,000x the stake, which would mean $200,000 cash here. On top of that, the possibility of triggering a progressive jackpot is also there, and that’s always a good moment for any player.
It’s quoted with an RTP of 93% at one casino where it’s available right now, which seems quite low to me for a modern slot machine. There is the possibility that this is a setting available to the casino, and maybe it will do better in other places, but if it’s at this figure everywhere then it’s not a game worth checking out, no matter how cool the payouts or graphics may be.
Age of the Gods: Lord of Lightning Slot Features
It’s got a fairly small list of features, which is a downside, especially since they’re not that interesting.
To start with, let’s take a look at the progressive jackpot and the way that you can trigger it. The Zeus symbol is responsible for giving you that one, and to win the big prize you need to have five of these symbols on all positions of an active line. That’s all it takes to trigger the prize. The amount that you win depends on the wager that was placed. Use the maximum bet, and you get 100% of the prize. Use only 25%, and you win a quarter of that amount that’s quoted. As little as 0.5% of the jackpot can be won, if you have the minimum bet in place.
The only other feature which appears to be used comes in the form of a Phoenix symbol, responsible for triggering 10, 20 or 30 free spins, via 3, 4 or 5 symbols. These same symbols are capable of paying the big prize of 5,000x the stake during the free spins, if they fill the reels.
Theme & Design
It’s a game which borrows quite a bit from Ancient Greece legends, same as with all the other slots in the Age of the Gods series. Zeus, the god of thunder, is at the center of the action and he’s shown next to the reels as well. The symbols involve images of the Phoenix, of harps, lion masks, helmets, Pegasus or swords, but in several cases there will also be Royals.
Expect Age of the Gods: Lord of Lightning to be on the simple side, with a low RTP, but with big potential prizes.
