Playson appears to be specializing in a certain type of slot machine lately, delivering a lot of titles with classic fruit themes and delivering a Hold and Win main feature to go along with it. While there is nothing wrong with a game of this type, their slots tend to look too much alike lately, and innovation seems to be lacking. For Super Sunny Fruits, we once again get a Hold and Win title, with fairly average fixed jackpots on the line, and a retro-style fruit theme, to which it adds the Sun as a point of focus.
Super Sunny Fruits uses only 10 lines for 5x3 reels, so it’s not the most generous layout to be forming combinations on. The aim is on the fixed jackpots, with the Grand version delivering 1,000x the stake ($100,000 cash). RTP is lower than I’d like, at 95.70%, while the list of features delivers a Chilli Wild, along with Sun and Super Sun scatters.
The selection of the wager is simple, and it involves opening up a menu and clicking on the bet value that seems appropriate for you. The range of the values listed there is between $0.10 and $100.
The absolute best payout that a single paid spins could deliver, is going to be worth 1,188x the stake, out of which 1,000x can come from the Grand Jackpot alone. If you look only at the amount that regular combinations could pay, that particular payout doesn’t go higher than 250x the stake (10 combinations of 25x the stake each).
Even though it doesn’t have the proper top payout for it, Super Sunny Fruits is going to have medium-high volatility, which I would typically want to be associated with bigger rewards than I’m seeing here.
RTP is slightly below the accepted average, with 95.70% being a level that doesn’t exactly push the player to give the game a chance.
The main feature that you get for the base game, the Chilli Wild, will only be available on four out of five reels (2-5). This means that you can’t rely on it to form combinations on its own, but it will still be able to help as a substitute, so new wins will often come as a result of its appearance in the right spot and at the right time.
There is only one other major feature in Super Sunny Fruits, and that’s the bonus game that will trigger fixed jackpots. The Sun symbol is oftentimes a blocker on the reels, since you need at least 6 of them in view, before their feature will start. Each Sun icon also has a cash value on it, ranging from 1x to 15x the stake.
If the requirements are met, a bonus game triggers. Here, the triggering Sun icons become sticky, and then 3 respins follow. It’s the same Hold and Win feature that we’ve seen in over a dozen games already. If you get additional Sun symbols, the respins reset back to 3. At the end of the feature, you collect all wins mentioned on the Sun symbols. Fill all 15 positions, and you trigger the Grand Jackpot.
The Super Sun is a symbol which may show up during the feature. If it does appear, it collects the values from all other Sun icons, and adds its own value as well.
It’s all in the title, the mention of the Sun and the Fruits, and that’s exactly the theme that you’re looking at. It’s a fruit themed game, with the Sun added as a top symbol, alongside a Chilli icon for the wild. With retro graphics, the game ends up looking dated, rather than charming.
It symbols start with the wild symbol (Red Chilli), continues with the Sun (scatter), and then we get the regulars. Those include a fiery Lucky 7, a Pear, Watermelons, Grapes, Plums, Oranges, Lemons and Cherries.
I’m not impressed with Playson’s strategy in slot machine development. Super Sunny Fruits is a good example of that, as a slot machine that is below average in most respects, from RTP to design quality, theme choice and even the features which are available.
