Playson Slots

Playson is based in Malta and it has been around since 2012, the year when it was founded. This is a developer of casino games, which has more than 250 employees worldwide, so in a couple of short years it has already managed to grow to a decent size, even compared with the giants of the industry. Being new to the market can be an advantage, especially when you’re managing to put out better looking slot machines than most companies that are your competition. Playson has a focus on the online market, but has a side to it that also deals with land-based casinos and the gamest they need.

Playson

The licenses that allow them to function in this market come from the country where they’re based, from Malta, but also from other respectable jurisdictions, such as UK and Alderney. It’s a way for the company to prove itself as trustworthy in the eyes of its players and partners, since these are among the best gaming licenses you can obtain.

History

Playson is a young company, which was formed in 2012, and which has its headquarters in Malta. Over the course of their first five years in business, Playson managed to create more than 70 games, all of them done in HTML5. They’ve also grown rather quickly, so they already have at least 250 people employed all over the world.

Playson Casino Games

As I’ve mentioned before, Playson is still a young company, and so they’ve only released a couple of dozen games. There is a bit of variety there, but not too much. The categories of games that they list on their site include the Slots (with the majority of the games present there, around 60 titles as of this moment), Video Poker (Double Joker Poker and Wild Sevens), Table Games (one game of Blackjack) and Roulette (Roulette with Track). Obviously, they’re still in their infancy when it comes to having a complete catalogue of games, and they can only be a way for a casino to enhance its offer, and can’t cover its needs on their own.

An advantage for a new company is that it has only online slot machines in its collection, though that’s not a guarantee. In Playson’s case though, that’s exactly what happened, and if you play their slot machines you will find more than three dozen examples of how such a game should be made.

If we look at the kinds of topics that they’ve covered in their slot machines, there are some that don’t feel impressive at all, with stories that others have attempted to bring to life just as well in the past. I would put in that category slot machines like Clover Tales, Fruitful Siesta or Aquarium. Luckily, I’ve seen even more slot machines of theirs that are fun and even somewhat unique. Slot machines like Space Corsairs, Eastern Delights, Burlesque Queen, Dracula’s Family or Sky Way are only some of those exciting games that I enjoyed playing because of the story as well, not just the quality of design or features.

Though the majority of the Playson games are modern video slots, meaning that they offer 5 reels, they’ve also designed classics. Lucky Reels is one such game, a 3 reel slot that has 5 lines and top payouts of 5,000 coins.

Graphics

I’ve mentioned it before, but it’s worth saying again. The games that Playson has designed so far are very well made, with modern graphics and quite appealing overall. Whether you’re looking at a slot like Dracula’s Family, at Lucky Pirates or at Time Warp Guardian, the quality is as good as anything that you’d expect out of Betsoft or NetEnt. There are often characters sitting to one side of the reels, there are animations and well designed symbols, usually without including poker icons among them. Overall, the design is definitely one of the major pros that the Playson slot machines have going for them.

Features

Compared with the typical slot machine of a decade ago, you will find that the ones put out today tend to do better with players if they’re more fun. The way to do this is through better features, not just the standard wilds and free spins. It’s what Playson appears to be trying, as their features tend to have more to them. As an example, if you play Time Warp Guardian you will get free spins with locked wild symbols and with two linked reels that will spin together and show identical symbols. Another feature, this time from Dracula’s Family, will be a 5th reel wild that can transform two entire reels into wilds, if it appears. Once again, this is an area where Playson tends to do very well, and they show imagination when they design the features in their games.

Payouts

Their games have good average RTP’s, mostly around the 95% or 96% mark, while the top payouts will depend on everything else that is offered. You might have a different number of symbols to crowd themselves on the reels, there might be lines or ways to win, multipliers and all sorts of other features, which could influence the value of prizes. The biggest ones will often be only worth 1,000x or around there, but I’ve also seen others go past 10,000x.
