Merkur continues to release slot machines that are a bit on the simple side, and Silverbird is a perfect example of this. Even though you’re getting the promise of that silver bird for its main character, the fruit style icons will be the ones visible on the reels most of the time. The features do look a bit better than those you’d get from a regular fruit slot, and the RTP is high enough to give you a reason to want to check it out as well.
Featuring 10 lines and using 5x3 reels behind them, Silverbird has several good things to offer, and the 96.87% RTP is definitely among them, along with the $20,000 jackpot which it can pay for a single very lucky round. The list of features, while relatively short, still offers expanding wilds and re-spins, so it’s got potential.
Betting and Prizes
Similar to what happens in other Merkur slots, you will have to select the bet for the next round, and you will have a short list of options to choose from. On that list, the smallest wager value is $0.10, while the highest one is $20. This gives you the option to use a line bet of $0.01 to $2.
Prizes look OK if you check out how much you can win from a single combination, the best one offering 1,000 coins, or $2,000 at most. Take into account all 10 lines, and the expanding wilds which appear on the middle columns, and you will find that the $20,000 maximum potential payout is not as unlikely as it would be in other slots.
The final figure that tells us just how well the game is expected to pay, the RTP, is announced at 96.87%, well above the industry average. It might not tell us how well the slot can pay for your particular session, but over its entire life it does have a better offer than other games.
Silverbird Slot Features
The one symbol to have something other than a classic icon, the Silverbird is not going to pay you anything directly, but at least you’re going to be able to use it as a substitute. Even better, this is an expanding wild that you’re getting on the middle three reels. There, when it appears, the Silverbird wild will expand to take over the column it is on.
The Re-spin feature is also going to come via the same expanding wild. Have a wild appear on one of the reels, and it will bring you a re-spin of the other columns, while its own reel locks in place. Additional wilds, if they appear during that re-spin, will also lock and will trigger more rounds.
Theme & Design
Don’t let the Silverbird title and main symbol fool you, 99% of the time you’re going to see classic symbols appearing on those reels. They’re going to be as boring as you can imagine, since they’re showing you 7s, bells and fruits ranging from watermelons, to grapes, plums, lemons, oranges or cherries. The style of the design isn’t that great either, closer to a 90s slot machine more than a recent title. The main symbol, the one with the eagle made out of diamonds, doesn’t look any better.
Silverbird has a good RTP and adequate payouts, along with some interesting features, but graphics wise it has little to offer.
