First Dynasty is a brand new Merkur and Edict release, which is going to target the Asian market. For this reason, it uses a theme which is based on the Chinese Xia dynasty. The legends say that its founder was Yu the Great, and this appears to be the main character of the game, based on what we’re seeing on its reels. It’s not the type of slot machine to deliver modern features, it’s a bit on the simple side in that regard, but it works well enough even so.
You will play with 5x3 reels, and there will be only 5 active lines there. The game is capable of paying well, even up to 3,000x the stake in a single spin, all while keeping the RTP at a proper 96.07%. Expanding Wilds, regular ones, as well as scatters and the free spins, there are a couple of features with decent potential in this release.
While covering the 5 lines available, you’re using bets of $0.05 to $10 each round, with a total of 8 levels to choose from. The line bet automatically changes, from $0.01 to $2, depending on the wager.
Wins of up to 3,000x the stake are a possibility in First Dynasty, though that’s the outcome of the free games, and not for the paid rounds. Otherwise, wins of up to 300x the stake are possible for each line, or up to 1,500x the stake in one spin.
In the very long run, the returns of First Dynasty are expected to be at 96.07%, so quite close to the average for an online slot.
You have access to two different types of wilds in First Dynasty, one being the Emperor, and the other a Warrior. They are both going to be used as replacement symbols. They also have the ability to expand on their reels, provided that a minimum of three appear at the same time.
Should the Emperor Wild appear on both reels 1 and 5, you will trigger 10 free spins through it. These wild symbols remain in their current positions until the feature is over.
As you can see, the list of features is quite short in this case. The game offers a couple of wilds and free spins, and there are some extra mechanics in them, but nothing too impressive.
There are plenty of great civilizations out there, and in many cases we’re talking about dynasties which ruled over them, so the title of this slot could apply to any part of the world. However, as you can easily see from its design, First Dynasty refers to China in this case. The Xia dynasty appears to be its source of inspiration.
Its symbols will include clay statues with the Emperor and the Warrior, along with images of shrines, horse chariots, horses, pottery, along with the hand-drawn Royals (10 to A).
First Dynasty looks fine for a slot game, even has a couple of features which are not quite the usual ones, and thanks to its top wins and decent RTP, I think it could make for a fine choice. It’s not going to impress any player though, it doesn’t really excel in any one area.
