Dragon’s Axe takes us on an adventure, something that has worked for countless slot machines before. Merkur is the original developer behind Dragon’s Axe, which we’re now getting at online casinos. A single Axe, a trigger symbol, is going to be used as a trigger for the bonus feature. You need 3 of these Viking Axe symbols collected first though. Stacked versions of the wild will be available for this particular mode.
During free spins, you destroy shields using the 3 Viking Axes already collected. New Battleaxe Scatters that land will also give you a Viking Axe, to remove Shields and enlarge the game area. At most, you can collect 9 of these Viking Axes.
Since at least some of the inspiration for Dragon’s Axe comes from the Viking world, it’s not surprising that we’re seeing so much snow and ice in the background image of this slot. There are frozen longboats behind the reels and a couple of strong stone pillars as support on both sides of the game area.
Looking at the game area, we find 24 symbols arranged in 6x4 positions. The five least valuable symbols show off Royals, 10 to A. The rest give us images of a bow, armor, dragon eggs, dragon’s eye, dragon’s head (top symbol), a Warrior Wild, and a Viking Axe (collected when it lands). Extra symbols from its features are the Battleaxe Scatter and a Stacked Warrior Wild.
Dragon’s Axe looks alright overall, but I wouldn’t expect anything that would shatter your perception of what’s possible in slot machines. Decent features, average graphics, and RTP, have pretty good potential, these would be some of its strong points.
