Merkur’s Book of Fire is yet another attempt at designing a slot machine for the Book category. The games featuring this type of game engine will typically have a different theme though, so its use of magic has the merit of giving the player something new to look at. Otherwise, you’re not going to find too many new things in this game, as the features and rewards are at the same level as in its competitors.
The typical setup for a Book slot relies on 10 active lines and has 5x3 reels to spin. That’s what we see in Book of Fire as well, a game that could deliver top wins of up to 5,000x the stake. The RTP is at a good enough level, of 96.02%, while volatility is high. As for the main features, the list includes options that are found in all similar slots, including here the mixed wild/scatter Book of Fire, along with its free spins and the special expanding symbols offered there.
The wager will use 10 coins, corresponding to the 10 active lines. You select the coin value, or the bet per line, the range for it being $0.01 to $2. This automatically changes the total bet, whose range will be $0.10 to $20.
With winning combinations that can pay up to 500x the stake, Book of Fire can deliver rewards of up to 5,000x the stake in a single round. That’s likely to happen during the free spins most of all since that’s the feature that can bring expanding symbols on all reels. It’s a common jackpot for a Book game though, it’s no different than the dozens of others doing the same thing.
Like most games of its type, it will have High volatility. Luckily, the RTP is at a level that should be satisfying for most, at 96.02%.
There is only one feature symbol to be found on its reels, and it does it all. The Book of Fire is shown in it, and it will be a symbol used both as a scatter and a wild. The downside is that it can land only once per reel, so it’s nowhere near as powerful as wilds from other slot machines. Still, get it on one of the 10 lines, have the rest of the regular symbols required for a combo, and it will substitute for the one that’s missing from the line-up, getting you a prize.
Mostly, you’re going to be wishing for it to land as a scatter, so at least 3 times and as many as 5. Besides the rewards of 2x to 200x the stake that would be paid immediately, there are also 10 free spins triggered.
The game selects one of the regular symbols and makes it special. It gets the ability to expand, and if you have it on at least 3 reels, it will pay on all 10 active lines (3 to 5 symbols each, if you get it on 3 to 5 reels). These special symbols don’t need to line up in adjacent positions, to get you paid, they act as scatters instead.
The best-case scenario involves having the Magician as the special symbol and then landing on all five reels. Expanding, the top symbol forms combinations of 5 on all lines, and it pays 500x the stake on each one, and 5,000x total.
It’s a dark design, as we’re taken inside a magician’s library. The Book of Fire is in the middle of the action, but otherwise, this is a slot machine with a magic theme. Other than the Book, its symbols revolve around the magician (top symbol), owl, chemistry equipment, and five Royals. It’s not that modern of a design, but it works just fine otherwise.
Book of Fire is a fairly typical game for its category, one of many to offer similar rewards and features. It doesn’t have anything unique if you discount the magic theme.
