We get a chance to see games like Viking Queen at hundreds of casinos early on in the developer’s history, thanks to the partnership they have with Microgaming. A Norse-themed slot machine is what we see in this case.

Viking Queen has 5x3 reels, and it’s using 25 paylines for each spin. The potential it has is pretty good, but only because the volatility is medium, and a 2,000x jackpot is typical in this case. Add the 96.92% RTP, and we’re looking at a slot worth checking out. I should also mention the major features which are present inside, with options ranging from the wild, to scatters, and free spins with multipliers.

Viking Queen Game Features

The Viking Queen herself serves as wild in this game. You see her acting as a substitute, just as expected, and she can also pay directly, its own combinations bringing you up to 200x the stake on each line. These wilds are not able to replace the major feature symbols.

Among its feature symbols, the game also uses gold coins as scatters. Being inscribed with the Free Spins logo, it’s easy to figure out what they will do for you. Getting them to appear on 3 to 5 reels, will trigger the feature. You get 10 rounds initially, where the multiplier is the one you collected on the Map. You can then retrigger this feature with 1 to 5 scatters, which would add 2 to 50 more rounds each time.

Theme & Design

Sporting a Norse-themed design, the slot uses the Viking Queen for its main symbol, the wild. You see her on the reels, alongside a number of wild creatures which appear to be borrowed from Norse mythology. There is the bear, the wolf, and a cat, as dangerous creatures that will bring the best winning combinations, along with icons of goblets and a creature’s tooth. The lower symbols are relying on six Royals, the usual 9 to A numbers and letters being shown on them.

Conclusion

All in all, I believe that Viking Queen has its place in Microgaming’s slots portfolio, and I like what Gong Gaming Technologies did with its design and features. It’s not the most unique game we’ve seen lately, but it’s good enough to be interesting for a while.
