Tropicool 2 is looking to take the legacy of the first slot in the series further. Expect the same mix of tropical and icy from the slot’s background image and its reels. Cold might have come to the tropics, but that’s lucky for you since it could bring some serious prizes. ELK Studios did well in the first slot in the series, so I’m looking forward to this sequel.
They’re giving us the same setup with 6 reels, where there are 46,656 winning combinations possible. The jackpot of 25,000x is excellent, especially in combination with the slot’s medium-high volatility (7/10), but I’m not a big fan of the 94% RTP. Some of the major features take the form of the Free Drops, Elmo Respins, or the Triple Cool Reel.
A wager of $0.20 gets you a spin, but that’s only the minimum. The option is there for you to spend up to $100 if you want to.
Tropicool 2 is capable of paying $2,500,000, which would be a 25,000x top jackpot. It’s even more impressive since we’re looking at a slot machine with medium-high volatility, so the reward seems to outweigh the risk. On the other hand, due to the 94% RTP that ELK Studios insists on using, I wouldn’t actually recommend this game to anyone that cares about odds.
There is a dropping symbol mechanic, which gets rid of any winning symbols in order to bring a new wave of potential combinations to the reels.
There is a Triple Cool Reel that takes over 3 rows, but it’s at the top and separate from the regular game area. You can get empty positions there, but it’s also possible to claim feature symbols, such as wilds, mystery symbols, row swaps, or locked wilds. These drop down to the reels when they have room as a result of the dropping mechanic.
Get Elmo to drop, and you’re going through a respin feature that lasts for as long as this symbol is still around.
You can also get the free spins to trigger, where you can use additional feature symbols in the Tropicool 2 free game.
The story revolves around three characters, starting with Elmo the Sloth and continuing with Emerson the Tucan and Belle the Flaming, birds that want to settle on the same beach. It’s a tropical design, with the beach and palm trees behind the reels, complete with the Tiki bar that everyone loves seeing. The reels are filled with tropical fruit on ice, which range from pineapple to strawberries, lime, or coconut, to mention just a few.
All in all, ELK Studios shows once again that they know how to deliver an interesting game, but the 94% RTP remains a big obstacle in my enjoyment of their content lately.
