In a move which appears to be an attempt from ELK Studios to take advantage of the popularity of the Megaways, the company is releasing a slot called Ecuador Gold, where we get a chance at playing with as many as 262,144 ways active. It’s not exactly a Megaways title, they don’t have the license for it, but in terms of volatility and potential, it’s close enough.
You start off with 6x4 reels and 4,096 ways to win, but the potential is there to reach a maximum of 262,144 ways. Along the way, you get the Avalanche feature to consistently help you out, while free spins and big symbols can also come in and get you paid well. Payout wise, the game could do even more, if it wasn’t for ELK’s cap on the amount that can be paid, at $250,000.
Betting and Prizes
The wager is set up for the entire game area, which is the way that it’s done in all slots with ways to win that I’ve seen so far. You select a wager of $0.20 to $100, a standard betting range being used for this.
In exchange, the game is capable of paying at most $250,000 cash, and that’s a limit which ELK have placed on their own game, the slot is actually capable of offering much more. 2,500x the stake doesn’t quite make high rollers want to try it, but if you go with a smaller wager, you could get an even better return, and still keep under that $250,000 limit.
RTP looks good, at 96.1%, which is considered an average but decent figure for any modern slot machine. I’ve seen Megaways titles do quite a bit better than this though. In terms of game experience, expect a medium/high volatility.
Ecuador Gold Slot Features
You do get only 6x4 reels at first, but the slot also has potential for more. As it adds extra rows of symbols, it boosts the ways to win as well. By the time it gets to 8 rows of symbols, it can have 262,144 ways activated. The Avalanche feature is the one that will boost the size of the game area, as winning symbols explode and allow others to come in, while also adding one row to the reels. You do need quite a few consecutive wins, to get from 4 to 8 rows of symbols, but it could pay off big.
Regular wilds exist, but there are also Ghosting Wilds in place, to bring them to the reels. These land on the last four reels, and they will move on the reels, leaving a trail of wilds behind them.
As always, it’s the free spins that will offer you the most, as the size of the game area doesn’t reset after winning spins. You keep getting a bigger and bigger game area, and once you reach the maximum of 6x8 reels with 262,144 ways, the rest of the spins will all benefit from it. To trigger 10 to 25 free spins, you will need 3 to 6 visible scatters.
Theme & Design
It’s not that unusual of a design, not for an adventure themed slot machine. It’s going to show off various idols made out of gold and representations of monsters or elements from nature, as seen by a South American civilization. El Dorado and the legend behind it, appear to have been the main inspiration source for the game.
Ecuador Gold will give us an exciting experience, big potential rewards and unique features. All in all, it’s a good competitor for the slots using Megaways, though it has its limits as well.
