Twice The Diamonds is Ainsworth’s slot machine, and predictably enough, it’s themed around diamonds and gemstones. There are a couple of things to note about it, and its pros would include the game’s features and RTP, but there are also downsides, which you can learn all about from our review.
They’ve designed this slot with 5x3 reels, added 30 lines, and then neglected to use a big top prize as well. Twice The Diamonds will pay at most 300x the stake in the base game, and not much more for the free spins (320x). Besides wilds, scatters and free spins, you also have extra wilds with up to 8x multipliers, and those can make a difference, though not as much as you’d think. The RTP being set to 96.51%, it’s at a level that I considered fair enough.
With $1.20 being the starting point for the game’s wagers, the least that you can spend per line is $0.04. At the other end, which is at $48, you can wager up to $1.60 per line.
The base game pays more per winning combination, 10x the stake, than the free spins do. A different paytable is used in free spins mode, and though an 8x wild multiplier is possible there, it doesn’t make as big of an impact, since wins pay up to 1.33x the stake per line at most. Ultimately, you get top prizes of about 300x the stake in the base game, and up to 320x for the free spins.
Even though I’m not satisfied with the rewards that are promised by this game, I found the RTP to be at a more than adequate level, of 96.60%.
In the base game, there are both wilds and scatters for you to use. Taking a look at the Wild Vault, this symbol will be available to be used as a substitute, and chances are that it will be profitable for you even during paid spins, where it’s quite simple. Only the last three reels are able to get these simple wilds, and only for the paid rounds.
To reach the free spins, the requirement is to have 3, 4 or 5 game logos scattered around the reels. Prizes of up to 100x the stake are delivered as well, just as you’re starting with the 10 free rounds. A big downside is that this part of the game relies on a different paytable, with much lower rewards (up to 1.33x the stake, while the base game pays up to 10x per line).
On the plus side, the game adds a 3rd reel wild multiplier here, which boosts wins by 2x for the first four rounds, 4x for the next four, and 8x for the last two, along with any that you might retrigger after that (3 extra given for each 2+ scatters). The regular wild now appears on reels 2 and 4, so it can still help out.
Twice The Diamonds will have that focus on diamonds and other precious stones, pretty much as expected. All high value symbols will show off precious stones, five of them total, along with the lower value Royals. As feature symbols, there will be logos, gold keys and vault doors. Not the best looking game around, but it would be difficult to manage something with that kind of theme in any case.
Twice The Diamonds will have the right RTP to make itself acceptable, but due to its lower top payouts, it appears to be mostly something that a casual player might go for.
