Ainsworth continues to release new slot games for the online market, and this time it’s Cougar Cash that is announced. A game with a theme that takes us once again to North America’s wilder regions, and it adds plenty of examples of wildlife from the area on its reels. I’ve found the features to be fairly interesting as well, so it’s not just the story that looks good.
Cougar Cash delivers 20 active lines, across 5x3 reels. It’s a game capable of paying 1,000x the stake or more, depending on how its features help out, and I’ve appreciated that it comes with a 96.26% RTP. As for the features that are used, those rely on wild symbols, multipliers, scatters, and free spins.
You can select the bet from a minimum value of $1, and it goes up to $50 from there.
The rewards that are possible, will come either from combinations of wilds, which can pay up to 1,000x the stake if they take over all reels or from regulars that will get multipliers applied to them. The potential of the game appears to be even higher, but while they mention the 96.26% RTP, Ainsworth doesn’t do the same for the top jackpot.
The Cougar’s image is going to be used for the wild symbol. You’re looking at the top paying symbol, so if you can get it to cover a line with wilds, that combination will pay 50x the stake (regulars pay up to 15x). Of course, it also assists other regular symbols, in forming new combinations. The role of the substitute is intact.
The main feature is going to come in the form of 10 free spins, which require having 3 to 5 game logos scattered on the reels. The feature can be retriggered, but you only get 5 extra spins each time this happens.
As an extra feature, the free spins have multiplier wilds, which will show up on certain reels. You get 1x and 2x multiplier wilds on the middle three reels, 3x wilds on the 3rd reel, and 5x wilds on the 4th reel. Having a multiplier wild appear, will transform all the symbols on that reel into wilds of that type, so they contribute to all winning combinations. All multipliers apply if there are several of them part of the same combo.
A beautiful view from one of North America’s national parks appears to be shown in the background. With tall cliffs, fast rivers, and forests, it’s the sort of place where all the creatures shown in the slot’s symbols could actually live.
Those symbols still have some very basic-looking Royals in the lesser positions, 9 to A, but there are others that look good as well. We see symbols with Nature Views, Deer, Eagles, Fox, Cubs, and the Cougar as the wild. The slot’s own logo is going to be its scatter.
Overall, I liked Cougar Cash, it’s one of the better slot machines from Ainsworth lately. It’s not a revolutionary release, but it has solid features and high-quality graphics (for the most part).
