One more slot machine is joining the Quad Shot series, including this very special feature, and this time Ainsworth is giving us a jungle themed title, called Big Thunder. It’s going to be an interesting release, of Medium volatility and offering the Quad Shot reel and the associated features, as expected.
The slot they came up with will have 5 reels, offering 25 lines in total and delivering wins as high as $250,000 per spin. It’s also going to have several fixed jackpots of different values to offer, while as features it gives you a Gorilla Wild, a Big Thunder Scatter, the Quad Shot Bonus, free spins and multipliers.
While always covering 25 lines, a wager in this game will have to start from a minimum of $1.25, which means that you are required to spend at least $0.05 for each one. It’s a bigger starting point than for a lot of other slots, but the maximum amount possible is on the low side, stopping at $25 ($1 per line). It’s not going to satisfy all players, especially high rollers, but it should be accessible to pretty much everyone.
Prize wise, the fixed jackpots you see at the top are actually giving you less than the reels are capable of delivering. While the Major Jackpot will pay $10,000, regular winning combinations can offer you that much on a single active line if the 5x multipliers get involved. Filling the screen with such symbols, during the free spins, could get you paid up to $250,000, once again with multipliers helping you.
The part that doesn’t make me happy is the RTP which the game offers, mentioned at a measly 94.39%, not enough in my opinion if you look at the caliber of the competitors.
Gorilla icons will be important to the game, and you should get used to seeing them and getting happy as a result. As wild symbols, you only see them on the last three reels during the paid rounds, but they become capable of triggering their own combinations for the free spins. At that point, they pay 2,000x for five symbols.
3+ Big Thunder icons will act as scatters and their presence will trigger for you 15 free spins. These will benefit from additional bonus symbols, including the Big Thunder icon, plus the 3x and 5x multipliers. Having a multiplier symbol appear on the bonus reel improves the wins for that round by 3x or 5x.
In order to trigger the Quad Shot Bonus and get the biggest jackpot, you will need first to have five symbols that match, without any wilds contributing to their combo. Next, you need the Quad Shot Bonus symbol on the bonus reel. Smaller jackpots are offered if wilds help out in the combo.
Story wise, it’s nothing new, as the game focuses on jungle life and gives you wild creatures which are to be expected in this context. The Gorilla is your main character, while images of jungle waterfalls, bongo drums, tribal shields, masks and huge snakes are the high symbols. The low symbols will feature images of Royals, far less impressive, even as they get decorated in an African tribal style. While it’s not an impressive design, it’s not a bad looking slot machine, and this is definitely not one of its weak points.
Big Thunder: Quad Shot doesn’t have an exciting enough RTP to make it a great pick, but if you’re a fan of the Quad Shot series then you might still have fun with it.
