They started with the game Road to Emerald City, and in this particular game, we seem to have arrived there.

Emerald City takes the action on its 5 reels and spreads the winning combinations among 243 potential ways to win. A $50,000 jackpot is up for grabs, and as you spin the reels and you try to get it, you will encounter features such as the wild, the bonus symbol, the Wheel Bonus and a random bonus game called Glinda the Good Witch.

You play the game with 243 ways to win, that’s just something that can’t be modified. You pretend like you’re playing with 40 active lines, and so you start your bets from $0.40. At its highest, the bet can get up to $200, where each of those lines would presumably get $5. Don’t worry though, the paytable updates automatically, telling you how much you can win.

Speaking of how much you can win, the jackpot of the slot delivers $50,000, if you’re truly lucky. There aren’t as many reasons to get excited otherwise though, the average RTP of the slot being only 93.95%, which is considered pretty low these days.

Wizard of Oz: Emerald City Game Features

One of the basic features, which you can find in most slot machines, both old and new, is the wild symbol. You have one that gets the slot’s logo for its image, and you use it mixed with other types of symbols, to form their combinations with them. It doesn’t replace the Jackpot or the Bonus symbols. It’s especially a shame about the former since it makes it tougher to get the top prize. The next best reward, which the wild can contribute to, will be worth only $2,500 at most.

The next one shows us the Wizard himself, a green man, almost alien-like in his form. You land scattered Bonus symbols on the three reels that will get them (1, 3 and 5), and you trigger a Wheel bonus that way. The spin of the Wheel will result in rewards of $1,000 to $25,000, along with free spins and picking bonuses.

Theme & Design

The theme is the one you’d expect, being inspired by The Wizard of Oz. It sports the characters from the 1939 film on its symbols, and it’s the second slot machine to do that. Dorothy, the Lion, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Oz himself are all present as symbols, along with a few others.

Conclusion

Wizard of Oz: Emerald City is a good sequel for the first WMS game with this theme, and it offers an interesting mix of features. What I don’t love about it is its 93.95% average RTP.
