Ultimate Ink Slot Machine Review

Available from WMS, and designed by their in-house studio, Red7, Ultimate Ink is one of the best looking slot machines that I’ve seen from this company. Naturally, it’s inspired by tattoo art, and it shows in the symbols and overall graphics that are used inside. Several other pros are listed next to its name, so keep reading and find out what those are.

Ultimate Ink has 5x4 reels and manages to offer 1024 different ways to win/potential combinations each round. With a top payout of $250,000, it manages to offer the player an appealing target, and at the same time it offers free spins, wilds with multipliers and an option called Reel Cost, which looks particularly interesting. Of note here, is that it has a 96.47% RTP, which is on the high side for a WMS slot.

Betting and Prizes

Wagers are selected in a range which starts as low as $0.01, but which can then reach a top value of $100. The Reel Cost setting allows you to customize your wager, by selecting a value for each reel, and then a multiplier of up to 40x to apply to it. Depending on your selection, you can have 4 to 1024 ways to win in play.

Both regular prizes and progressive jackpots can be targets here, though the focus is on the former. The absolute best winning combinations, the ones involving symbols with Skulls, will pay up to $750 (7.5x total stake). Have enough wins formed in a single round, and the slot will pay up to $250,000 (though at a potential of over 10,000x total stake).

The progressive jackpots are coming via the Mega Drop, and there are three versions here, with names like Epic, Major or Minor. These trigger at random, but they’re guaranteed to be won by the time they reach certain values.

In terms of the Return to Player, it’s best when you have a higher number of reels active, so I would definitely suggest using all 1024 ways to win. The lowest RTP is 95.93% (1 full reel active), while the highest is 96.47% (all five reels fully active).

Ultimate Ink Game Features

One of the things which set this game apart, the Reel Cost option allows you to have 1 to 5 full reels active. The ones which are not fully active will give you only 1 out of 4 symbols, so you can still have combinations of 5 symbols formed.

There are common features as well though, such as the wild symbol that you get on the middle three reels. It’s a replacement for a lot of symbols, but not for scatters.

8 to 20 free games will trigger, provided that 3 to 5 of the usual scatters appear in view. You can then retrigger the feature with 2 or more scatters. 2X and 3X wild multipliers are used during free spins. You add them up if there are several contributing to a win, so with three multiplier wilds the wins can be boosted by up to 9x.

Theme & Design

The tattoo art theme works for Ultimate Ink, particularly since it’s a much better design than I expect to see in slots offered by WMS. It’s also a Red7 slot though, and this new in-house studio seems to do good work. The symbols shown are of various tattoos, along with the usual Royals. The image shown behind the reels is that of a tattoo parlor’s interior.
