Book of Relics Slot Machine Review

Book of Relics is available via WMS and it was designed for them by Red7, an in-house studio. They came up with yet another Book of Ra style slot machine, a game which delivers guaranteed prizes, the same Ancient Egypt theme that we’re used to already, and a somewhat low RTP.

5x3 reels spin in Book of Relics, with a total of 10 active lines being used there. The game offers progressive jackpots, has fixed payouts of up to $250,000, and for its list of features it relies on wilds/scatters, free spins and special expanding symbols.

Betting and Prizes

The one bet option that you can use here, will vary the amount used that round from $0.10 to $200. This allows for a line bet of up to $20, with a starting point at just $0.01.

There are two types of prizes that you can get in Book of Relics, regular ones coming from winning combinations, and progressive jackpots. The regular prizes pay as much as 500x total stake for a single combination, or up to $100,000 on each line, though the total is limited at $250,000 per spin.

There are also the progressive jackpots which come via the Mega Drop feature, and those include the Epic ($200,000), Major ($20,000) and Minor ($1,500).

RTP is too low if you look at the game on its own, being set to just 94.36%. If you take the Mega Drop into account as well, then it goes up to 96.36%.

Book of Relics Game Features

The slot machines which copy the mechanics of Book of Ra will all have the same basic features, even though some of them add something extra as well. Besides the choice to use the same Ancient Egypt theme, they also have mixed wild/scatter symbols, typically with the image of a Book shown in it.

The Book of Relics, which is the wild/scatter symbol here, will be used on all reels and will behave in different ways, depending on the circumstances. If it appears alone, next to regular symbols, it can help out as a substitute.

If the Book shows up multiple times on the reels, even in random positions, then it can trigger the free spins (3+ scatters). At the same time, it pays up to 500x total stake, or $100,000.

The slot gives you 10, 15 or 20 free spins to play through, along with the option to retrigger this feature. One symbol is randomly chosen, and it will gain the ability to expand and cover its reel, whenever it appears, as long as this can get you a winning combination.

As you can see, there isn’t much that is different in this game, compared with other Book of Ra inspired slots from the past.

Theme & Design

I will give WMS props for this at least, the graphics they use in Book of Relics are better than in their typical slot machines. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that it’s been designed by their in-house studio, Red7, but this Ancient Egypt themed slot actually looks pretty good. That’s mostly true about its high value symbols and background graphics, as the Royals are still colorful and cartoon-style.

Conclusion

Book of Relics can be an OK pick if you want a slot machine from this category which has a progressive jackpot, but otherwise it’s just one more clone for Book of Ra, with the same theme and features, as well as a fairly low RTP.
