Frozen Queen will have some awesome features and mechanics to give us, while graphics and theme wise we’re traveling to a colder part of our planet, the kind of spot where polar bears are actually a thing. So are ice queens though, so clearly this isn’t just a nature themed game, that Tom Horn Gaming is giving us.
You will discover a fairly small game area in the base game, with 4 reels hosting 3 symbols each, and a total of 81 ways to win. This will expand to a regular-sized game area, with 5 reels/243 ways, once you reach the free spins. You get sticky wild reels, scatter wilds and free spins for the big features of this game. The payout is limited by the developer to 1152x the stake, or up to $115,200, while the RTP can be at 94% or 96%.
Betting and Prizes
You have a wager that you get to pick for the entire game area, as you’re not able to separate the line bet for the individual ways to win. You just select one of the values available, ranging between $0.10 and $100. The figures quoted on the paytable will multiply the total amount.
As the highest paying symbol promises to deliver 32x the stake, you can count on wins of up to $3,200 from each way to win. The potential should be much higher than what the game is offering, based on those numbers, but Tom Horn Gaming limited the maximum payout to just 1152x the stake. This means that you can’t win more than $115,200 in a single spin.
The maximum potential should’ve been over 7,000x the stake otherwise, and that would’ve made it an actually cool slot to play. As it stands, the payouts make it only average. They consider it a medium volatility release.
Frozen Queen Slot Features
The game starts you off with an area of 4x3 reels that you can play in, and a total of 81 ways to win. Winning combinations may be formed on adjacent reels, going left to right. This is the setup you get for the base game.
A Magic Crystal is the special feature symbol which you’re seeing most of the time, available both as the wild and the scatter. You can have it substitute for any other type of symbol, to help it create wins. It’s also the way for you to trigger 10 free spins, if you have exactly two in place on the reels.
The free spins are the ones with higher potential, as a sticky wild reel is added to the four existing reels. It takes the form of a Frozen Queen, which acts as a wild for the entire duration of this feature. It’s a second substitute, and it’s once again used in combination with all types of symbols. This new reel is going to be the 3rd column, and it will take the number of ways to win to 243 on a total of 5 reels.
Theme & Design
It’s a game about a kingdom of ice, and you see a North Pole inspired image in the background, with polar bears walking around and with an ice castle in the distance. Besides the Frozen Queen and the Magic Crystal symbols, the rest are either ice-made Royals or images of Polar Bears, Siberian Tigers, Polar Foxes or White Owls.
I found Frozen Queen to be a fun little game, with interesting mechanics and medium volatility. I only regret its limited potential, of 1152x the stake, put in place by the developer.
