While there is no shortage of wild horses in modern slot machines, and we know of at least 3-4 others that have similar themes, I think that a good design and a lot of modern features could still make people give such a game their attention. Stakelogic’s Wild Wild Horses appears to fall into that category, of slots that have quite a bit to offer beyond pretty graphics.
Wild Wild Horses comes with 5x4 reels, a fairly large game area, and one that can deliver a total of 25 active lines. You’re going to get wins of up to 250x the stake if we go by what regular combinations can bring you in a single round, but with plenty of features and free spins available, I’m sure it can deliver much more than that (no news on what the cap is like though). If we check out the major features that were added, we find the wild symbol, scattered Wild Horses, or Treasure Chests, along with free spins, sticky wilds, and more.
The regular wagers of Wild Wild Horses will require just $0.25 per spin, at the lowest level. At the highest, you could spend up to $25 each round.
Included, is a Super Stake option that the player can activate, in order to get a chance at random features triggering during paid spins. If you use it, the wager doubles, so the new range is $0.50 to $50.
There is no mention of the exact amount that Wild Wild Horses can deliver at the end of its most profitable spins. Still, with up to 10x the stake paid on each line, we can calculate that a single spin can bring 250x the stake. As there are plenty of free spins to claim, along with sticky wilds and wild columns that could show up there, it looks like it could pay considerably more.
Some areas the slot could definitely improve upon, and I’d mention there it's below average Return to Player (95.57%).
Horseshoe Wilds are among the feature symbols that the game offers. These are available to be used in combination with regular symbols, acting as substitutes for them. They become even better once the other special features trigger.
The main feature of the slot would be its free spins. Reaching them is possible when you have the Wild Horse scatter on the reels, landing 3, 4, or 5 times. In exchange, the game will give you 8, 16, or 24 free spins, respectively.
There are a couple of advantages, that the free spins have, compared with the regular ones. For one, any wilds landing on the reels, will turn sticky and will keep their positions until the feature is over. Second, there is a chance that medium symbols can transform into wilds, and those will be sticky as well. Making money during the free spins should be a lot easier.
Another one that could make your sessions profitable, is the Treasure Chest, a bonus symbol reserved for the 5th reel. When landing there, it opens up and reveals a prize (up to 40x the stake), or a special feature.
During paid spins, the Treasure Chest can give you access to 8 or 12 free games.
During free spins, it will either add 2 or 4 more spins to the total or will give you stacked wilds on one of the first four reels. These will cover 1-4 positions on the reel and will be sticky.
Additionally, for the players that are using the Super Stake, random features could trigger at any time. Getting just 2 scatters during a losing spin, could result in the transformation of those symbols into medium-paying symbols. Those new symbols, along with any others of that type and other wilds, all turn into sticky Wild Horse wilds. Respins come next, and they keep going if you can get additional wilds to appear.
Even though it’s not the most unique theme for a modern slot machine, the wild horses of North America’s prairie are still fun to look at, and they contribute plenty to your experience in the game. A beautiful image of the prairie is shown in the background, and a large wooden set of reels is placed nearby.
As lower symbols, we find just four Royals, Jack to Ace. We then see four medium symbols, with images of horses in different colors. A Wild Horse, a Treasure Chest bonus, Horseshoe Wild, and the Wild Horse Scatter, would be its other features.
I’ve enjoyed the overall experience of Wild Wild Horses, and that mostly has to do with its graphics and features. The lower RTP might keep a lot of players from giving it a real shot though, and long-term it might not be as good of a solution as others.
