Lion Gold is a new slot from Stakelogic, with a safari theme and with at least one innovation, the addition of the Mega Super Stake to the list of bet options. More on that below, but for now it’s enough if we mention that the slot has big enough prizes to make itself a target for players everywhere, and the features have a contribution as well.

5x3 reels are going to be used in Lion Gold, along with 25 fixed lines. The game’s got very good potential, and it’s going to deliver Mega Jackpots of 1,000x the stake, along with other prizes that could reach a value of 5,300x the stake ($530,600). With a 96% RTP, and with new Super Stake options, the slot also incorporates as major features its scatters, free spins and the Wild Moon bonus.

Betting and Prizes

$0.10 is the smallest wager that the slot allows you to select, while the highest one will be $100. Either way, it offers 25 active lines in exchange for your wager.

In addition to regular betting, Lion Gold offers you the option to activate a Super Stake or Mega Super Stake option. The former doubles the wager value (2x), while the latter multiplies it by 2.5x. This can take a minimum bet from $0.10 to $0.25, while the maximum can reach $250.

The developer has announced that the top jackpot it can deliver will reach a value of over 5,300x the stake, or at least that’s what it looks like, based on the $530,600 payout that they mention as a possibility. It’s a good cap for a slot machine, particularly since they made sure to keep the RTP adequate, at 96%. The volatility though, is going to be medium high (4 out of 5 rating).

Lion Gold Slot Features

The Lion symbol is one of the feature triggers that this slot offers, a wild that is going to be able to contribute to any of the new combinations which are formed, provided that it’s on the right line to do that. You can also form wins with these wilds alone, and each one would pay up to 20x the stake (500x for a full screen).

Next, the Scatter, showing the outline of a lion at sunset. These you need landing a minimum of three times somewhere in view, in order to get you 6 to 15 free spins, plus a prize which goes up to 20x the stake. The feature retriggers the same way.

In the free spins mode, you can get Colossal Symbols for the reels 2, 3 and 4. These are sized at 3x3, so they take over multiple reels when they show up. They might add to the volatility a bit, but they can also form combinations on all lines, under the right conditions.

Another symbol that you should pay attention to, the Wild Moon is only useful to you when you get at least 6 of them in view. Otherwise, they tend to act as blockers on the reels.

If the Wild Moon feature does trigger, it’s going to involve the triggering symbols and any new Wild Moon icons that you can get, during the 3 respins which follow. If new such symbols show up, the respins reset. Ultimately, you can get cash prizes or one of the fixed jackpots of up to 1,000x.

Super Stake: if you’ve activated this option, and you’re spending 2x the regular bet, then there is a chance that a losing spin will trigger a free spins feature, with 6 rounds.

Mega Super Stake: you pay 2.5x the regular stake for this one, and if it triggers, it will do so during a losing spin. You get 10 free spins, if that happens.

Theme & Design

It’s a bit of a weird mix of safari themed icons (lion, buffalo, gorilla, mountain lion) with the image of a horse thrown in as the top regular symbols. The other four symbols are the base Royals, Jack to Ace, and they don’t have any theme related customization. The feature symbols range from the Wild Moon, to the Lion Wild, or the Lion Scatter.

Look behind the reels, and you will find the image of the African savanna, with trees nearby, mountains in the distance, and the tall grass all around. It’s a nice design, but not that unusual for this type of game.

Conclusion

Lion Gold is a decent slot machine, with big enough rewards and a list of features that should be fun for most players. That being said, those features are not unique to it, you get them in plenty of other slots these days, and the Super Stake options are a bit on the expensive side.

The RTP is at the right level though, so if you do want to give it a shot and see how it works out for you, it could be interesting to check out those new Stake options.
