Invaders Megaways Slot Machine Review

In what I can only guess that is going to be a slot machine with an alien invasion theme, Invaders Megaways is one of several slot machines that Scientific Games is preparing for 2021, with the popular Big Time Gaming engine at its core. It’s already a crowded category, and it's one that I expect will get even bigger next year. Alien-themed games are common enough, but there is still room for some if they have cool new mechanics.

Invaders Megaways is played on 6 reels, of 2-10 symbols each, and it can have up to 1,000,000 ways to win active. Rewards seem to go up to 25,000x the stake, meaning that it’s capped at $250,000 for a single spin. Highly volatile, it will come with a proper RTP, at 96.30%. Major features range from scatters and free spins to cascading reels, wilds, and multipliers.

Betting and Prizes

$0.25 is the absolute lowest that you can go when selecting the wager for the upcoming spin. The highest available bet is $10.

It’s been mentioned that rewards of up to $250,000 can be paid by the online slot, and with the maximum bet, this could mean a 25,000x return. It’s very good, definitely enough to motivate any player, but you have to keep in mind the associated cost, which is its high volatility. RTP is good though, and at 96.30% it’s about as expected.

Invaders Megaways Game Features

It’s a slot with Megaways, so the expected setup has 6 reels, each one with 2 to 10 symbols, and anywhere from 324 to 1,000,000 Megaways/potential combinations. This is decided independently for each reel, so while one might have only 2 symbols, the next could have 6 or even 10. The more symbols appear on the reels, the higher the odds of forming combinations, and the more ways to win that are available for the round.

Once a win forms, the game allows a cascade to trigger, and take away the symbols that contributed to the win. New symbols come in, and this could lead to additional wins and a continuation of the cascades.

You will notice that the regular symbols are displayed in a horizontal reel at the top. The game randomly picks one each spin, by having a UFO hover on top of it. All instances of that symbol, on reels 2-5, will be shot at with lasers. This transforms them into extra wilds.

As for the way to get to the free spins, the Planet scatters are the ones doing it for us. 4 to 6 Planet scatters, will deliver 7 to 15 free spins. This feature can be retriggered, with 3+ scatters.

Various modifiers are attached to each of the five top symbols, and as the slot picks a different one for each spin, you can get expanding symbols, multiplier wilds, extra wilds, reel expansions, or up to 256x win multipliers.

Theme & Design

Invaders Megaways looks like a lot of fun, as expected for a slot machine that offers cartoon-style alien invaders, evil scientists, and cows that are being kidnapped by UFOs. It’s an attack on Earth, but that doesn’t mean that it can’t be funny.

The symbols used include images of Royals, Nine to Ace, plus the top ones with the game logo, the scientist, green alien, cow, and ray gun.

Conclusion

I loved Invaders Megaways slot demo, but then again I am a sucker for a good design and having a bit of humor to go along with big rewards and exciting features. It’s not a typical Megaways slot, so that’s a big plus for it as well.
