Red Tiger is going the safe route with Jewel Scarabs, and it’s once again getting inspiration for a game by using Ancient Egypt related graphics. A slot machine with decent potential and OK gameplay, Jewel Scarabs should be a perfectly fine game to try out, but more on what it offers and whether it’s a good fit for you, in our review.
Jewel Scarabs is a 5-reel slot machine, it has 3 symbols per column, while 9 active lines are used to create its winning combinations. Given the wagers available, the slot’s top payout of 5,245x the stake can be turned into a prize of $52,450, at most. As the game’s better features, I’d recommend you take a look at its Scarab wild/scatter symbol, which will also bring in multipliers during its Golden Spins. It’s not going to have the best RTP around, but at 95.77% this figure is not the worst either.
If it’s a Red Tiger game, then chances are that you’re not going to find any individual paylines to place bets on. The wager selection is done for the full game area, and in this case it has a range of $0.10 to $10, that you can choose from.

You only get one themed symbol here, and it’s the Scarab that gets the honor, serving as both wild and scatter.
By itself, when appearing on specific lines, which have the rest of the required regular symbols in place, the Scarab will act as a substitute, allowing you to form more winning combinations, and turn losing sessions into profitable ones. Should up to five Scarab wilds create their own combinations, they then pay the same as the jackpot symbol.
The same symbol, the Scarab, will be a scatter, but you need it landing at least three times somewhere in view. It still gets used as a substitute, but it also triggers Golden Spins that round. The triggering Scarabs are locked in their positions, and they have a multiplier value as well. With each new combo that they contribute in this mode, the multiplier goes up. They haven’t placed a limit on how high that multiplier will go, and if you have several wilds in a combo, then the multipliers work with each other (they multiply each other). These Scarab wilds also fly around and change positions, from one round to the next.
It’s an older theme, but it can still work reasonably well. Used as both wilds and scatters, the Scarabs are the slot’s best icons, followed closely by the jackpot-triggering Anubis icons. Additional high symbols give us the Falcon or the Eye of Ra, Bastet, while as low paying symbols we find the Royals.
Jewel Scarabs has modern graphics, but a fairly common theme, and based on that alone I wouldn’t expect players to get excited about a chance to play it. However, take into account the slot’s features as well, and especially the multipliers from the Golden Spins, and things start looking up.
