Golden Leprechaun Megaways blends two different elements, which have proven extremely popular with players in the past. We have the Irish theme on one side, with its luck element, and the Megaways mechanic on the other, with high volatility and big payouts. Red Tiger launches a new game in this very popular new category, and it’s a slot with the usual excellent graphics and big potential.

You get a relatively typical Megaways release, with up to 117,649 wins coming from the slot’s 6 reels. The game disappoints where the RTP is concerned, since it has it at 95.72%, but there are good jackpots to be paid, of over 10,000x ($100,000+). Moving on to features, those include random wilds, stacked wilds, Lucky Ways and Lucky Spins.

Betting and Prizes

It’s not a surprise, that the bet selection in a game with megaways/ways to win, has nothing to do with the actual number of potential combinations. There is a fixed range, of $0.10 to $10, so it appears that only 10 coins are used there.

As for the rewards that can trigger in a game like this, the potential is actually higher than what the slot will actually pay. It’s capped at about 10,000x, so wins inside will not go much higher than $100,000. With up to 117,649 combinations which can form in a single round, there is actually potential for a lot more, especially since a single combo can pay up to 50x total stake.

The game’s volatility is medium to high, so there are games out there, which are even tougher to take advantage of. There is at least one downside with this game though, and that’s the 95.72% RTP. The majority of the Megaways slots will be above 96%, some even at 96.50%, so Golden Leprechaun Megaways isn’t doing that great there.

The game has as few as 3 symbols on a reel, or as many as 7 symbols. The number is random for each reel, so the number of ways to win changes dramatically, for each spin. The outer reels get up to 6 symbols, while the middle four reels can have up to 7.

At random, as the game is played, the leprechaun can appear and will give you a modifier, to help you out. You can get Lucky Ways (guaranteed winning combo), Random Wilds (extra wilds added) or Wild Stacks (a maximum of four wild reels, which could basically mean up to 28x multipliers for wins).

The usual scatters are used to get you into the Lucky Spins, with up to 20 rounds available. The modifiers from the base game are available much more often, and you even get to pick a favorite one. Multipliers go up by 1x, for each cascading reels mechanic triggered upon forming a combo.

Theme & Design

Moving on to the theme, we have the Irish luck element, which is fairly common in slots. We get their symbols at high quality, but mostly things that don’t surprise. Red Ribbons, four leaf clovers, beer, books, these are major symbols in the game. The ones of lesser value end up with Royals. The symbols are all very well designed, even the Royals, but that doesn’t make the action interesting.

Conclusion

Golden Leprechaun Megaways might be a bit different from other new slots from this category, all while offering the same top payouts of 10,000x, but I’m not a fan of its below average RTP.
