Introducing interesting new mechanics, Diamond Cascade is a Red Rake slot which is scheduled for launch later in 2020. The game delivers a fairly common design, with fruits that are not going to bring us anything too interesting on the reels. Luckily, some of the features involved are going to be quite different from everything you’ve seen so far, and while it’s nothing earth shattering, I appreciated the attempt at innovation.
Diamond Cascade is a slot machine with 5 reels (3-6-6-6-6 symbols) and a total of 3,888 ways to win. It’s a big enough game area, that wins of up to 3,770x the stake are possible, and then there are also all the cool features available. Among those, you will discover the random cascades of Wild Diamonds, scatters, free spins and up to 10x multipliers.
A bet in Diamond Cascade can be anywhere between $0.30 and $30, per spin.
The top wins of Diamond Cascade will reach 3,770x the stake, but that’s an amount that the developer decided on. In terms of potential, the game can do a lot better, even if we don’t count on the multiplier roulette giving them a boost. Of course, reaching such wins is not something that a lot of players will manage, the higher volatility will make sure of that.
It should be noted that it comes with medium volatility, which sounds good given what’s offered, but there is also a 95.40% RTP about which I’m not that excited.
Wild Diamonds are there to help you out as substitutes, but it’s especially interesting the way that they can show up, as part of special features.
A Diamond Cascade is a randomly triggered bonus feature, which can appear on one or more reels, in a single spin. It will bring cascades of Wild Diamond symbols from above, to take over multiple positions on those reels.
The Bonus Diamond is another one that you have to watch out for. As a scatter, it’s a symbol that you can use when it lands on 3 or 4 reels, to deliver up to 16 free games. Only the reels 2 to 5 can get these symbols.
There are a couple of advantages to the free spins feature, and one of them is related to the Diamond Cascades. These have a much better chance of triggering for you, during free games.
At the same time, there is a secondary feature, involving a Multiplier Roulette. It can spin for you, and give you multipliers ranging from 1x to 10x, to apply to your wins.
The diamond is clearly the star of this one, and that’s fine, but I wanted a better story and design for the rest of the game as well. The setup is not standard, and the 1st reel gets only 3 symbols, so forming combinations is a bit harder than in other real money slots (fewer chances to get a combo going, if the 1st reel doesn’t have as many symbols as the rest).
As for the rest of the theme, it’s a classic in every respect, and the symbols that you get here should be familiar to you. Several types of diamonds (wilds and bonus), lucky 7s, bells, Triple/Double/Single Bar logos, watermelons, grapes, lemons, cherries and even a spade, these are all standard for older games, and easily found in hundreds of titles.
It’s not a bad option overall, but I hesitate to give it the stamp of approval, just because its RTP is quite a bit lower than expected. 95.40% is far enough from 96%, that it’s worth skipping, unless you really want to see what it plays like.
