Chicago Streets brings back the mafia of the 30s and places it on the reels, in front of us. It’s a game that has been designed in Playtech’s studios, and it’s offering a retro feel, just as it should be for something that is inspired by that period in time.
Those playing Chicago Streets will have 5x3 reels to spin, while 1 to 25 bet lines are going to be used each round. You can win prizes that reach values of $20,000. As for the features, the ones that are mentioned include the wilds, scatters and free spins with locked wilds inside.
Betting and Prizes
It’s a relatively easy to understand betting system, giving you enough liberty to modify it as you see fit. You could start from as little as $0.01 per spin, if you decided to use the minimum denomination coin and have only one line active. With all the lines active, your wagers would start from $0.25 and could be as high as $500. Line wagers can go up to $20.
You get at most 1,000 coins back from single winning combinations, which can translate into a cash prize of up to $20,000. You might consider that to be low, but the RTP still ends up above many others, being set to 96.21%.
Chicago Streets Slot Features
The Police Car, which is a lovely retro car from the 30s, is being shown in one of the symbols. It has the wild’s role to fulfill, which means that by appearing on the reels of this slot it can be used in any sort of regular combination. It will be a substitute if the circumstances allow it, as long as this happens for a symbol that gets you a win, and not for a scatter. Only the last four reels can have wild symbols appear, so forming combinations with them alone is out of the question.
The scatter symbol has the image of a crate of liquor, with the word Bonus on the side. As a scatter, it’s not going to be as important where it lands, as it will be the fact that it is visible somewhere. The reels that can get it are the 1st, 3rd and 5th ones.
With all three Bonus Crates on the reels, there will be a feature with free games in it for you. A total of 16 free spins are offered, in a 8+8 configuration. The initial 8 free spins get locking wilds for the reels 2, 3 and 4. The next 8 free spins will benefit from the same locked wilds, plus there will be additional wild symbols placed on the 5th reel, so it will make it easier for you to get five symbol combinations.
Theme & Design
The story that we’re being told is a fairly interesting one, as the prohibition and the mafia of the 1930s have proven great topics for slots to cover. The way that they implemented the story is another matter though, and I can’t say that I’m happy with the graphics. They’re alright enough I guess, but I don’t think they’re going to prove inspiring to anyone. The images are expected ones, of mafia members that are armed with Tommy guns, with the Don and with a beautiful woman, followed by images of crates of liquor, police cars and six playing cards.
Chicago Streets isn’t quite as good as other Playtech releases, but with a high RTP and a couple of features that are at least average, it could certainly be a decent way to spend some time.
