Charms of the Sea is the kind of slot machine where you can find pretty graphics and a relatively common theme, the big focus being on the creatures of the ocean and on the beauty of a world that humans don’t really have access to. It’s a Playtech slot machine, which was released in April 2018.
This game presents you with 20 fixed lines, across 5 reels. You can win big with it, even as much as $250,000 from a single combination, but mostly it’s going to be the features that will help you get to the 95.8% RTP. Among those features, expect to find the wild symbols and several types of expanded mermaids, stacked wilds, a Wild Chunk bonus and Sticky Wilds.
Betting and Prizes
In terms of the bets that you’re allowed to use in Charms of the Sea, I think that you’re going to find the slot easily accessible to all budgets. A high roller can go with a bet of $500 per spin, which would get $25 for each line. Those looking only to have some fun can spend as little as $0.20 to spin the reels of Charms of the Sea.
Payout wise, rely on the wild symbol when it comes to the bigger amounts that can be won from single combinations. Five wilds arranged on one of those 20 lines will pay 10,000 coins back to you, which can mean $250,000 cash with the right wager. Since 20 lines are available, the game is capable of paying up to $5,000,000. The slot’s RTP is decent, but a little bit lower than expected since it comes in at 95.80%.
Charms of the Sea Slot Features
You have a long list of potential events and features to trigger in Charms of the Sea, but the wild symbol I’d expect to get your attention most of all. First, you get this one fairly often on the reels, and when that happens it will usually be used as a substitute that contributes to another combo. At times, when it appears on its own line enough times, it will form combinations directly and pay as much as 10,000x.
The expanded mermaid symbol appears in about four different variants, and in each case there will be a different payout associated with her combinations. At most, with the largest expanded mermaid covering all reels, you can win 250x total stake. In the other situations, you multiply the amount mentioned for that type of expanded mermaid (three regular variants exist besides the full-screen one), with the number of positions that are occupied that round.
Mermaids can expand to a 2x1 size if one of them has a silver frame around her image and it’s part of a winning combination. If a mermaid symbol has a gold frame around her, then the expansion makes them 2x2 in size. Get four symbols of this type on just as many reels in consecutive order, from left to right, with two of them sporting gold borders, and the entire screen will be covered by the resulting expanding mermaid.
Stacked Wilds have their own feature, triggered at random and making them appear on one of the middle three reels. These wilds are sticky then, with respins coming up if you’re lucky. You can end up with 9 wilds on the middle three reels.
Wild Chunk is another one, involving a Fortune Wheel which spins to give you 2 to 9 wild symbols.
Theme & Design
It’s a simple theme, revolving around the ocean and its creatures. It looks pretty good and its symbols include images of the mermaid, gemstones, crabs, octopuses, fish and sea horses, along with several pearls.
It’s a good game, especially thanks to its wealth of features and its beautiful graphics. I’m not very happy about the RTP being below 96%.
