Play n GO has a lot of interesting games in its collection already, but The Last Sundown is especially noteworthy. With a post-apocalyptic theme, excellent graphics, and a story that revolves around different sides fighting for control over the wasteland, it should be a great choice for the fans of the genre. Slot machines from this developer tend to pay well, and The Last Sundown takes it one step further.
The Last Sundown has 5x3 reels and 243 ways to win, but there is potential for more, as the game area can expand to include up to 7,776 ways. Thanks to its features and huge game area, rewards of up to 36,000x the stake are possible, and they don’t come as a surprise. Of course, this will be a slot with high volatility, but with an RTP of up to 96.20%. There are several features that should be mentioned, such as its wild symbol, scatters, free spins, and split symbols.
As expected, it’s going to be fairly cheap getting started with The Last Sundown. $0.10 is going to be the smallest wager possible, while $50 is the highest one.
I loved the potential of The Last Sundown, but its rewards of up to 36,000x the stake will come with some downsides. It’s not possible to get that much from a slot designed for casual players, so it will be highly volatile and fit for those more experienced. Its RTP is up to 96.20%, but there will be an RTP range in a typical Play n GO release, so it can be lower as well.
A major part of the gameplay in this one will come from the use of Splitting Symbols. This is a random feature during the slot’s regular spins, so it’s not guaranteed there. If it does trigger, it selects a random symbol and gives it the ability to split into two positions if it’s visible on the reels. This gives you up to 6 symbols per reel, instead of the usual 3, and as many as 7,776 ways for you to form combinations on.
A simple wild is available, used as a substitute when possible, but also capable of paying 5x the stake if it creates its own wins. Otherwise, it’s a replacement for regular symbols, and it contributes to their wins if it can do so from its current position.
If you can get scatter symbols on the reels, 3 or more visible at the same time, you can win up to 50x the stake and you also trigger 8 free games. 3 extra spins can be claimed along the way if you collect certain symbols and fill their meters.
In this mode, you play with a permanent splitting symbol that’s chosen before the feature starts. You also get another symbol to collect, with the aim being to split other positions. You can do this for wilds, but also for regular symbols, with different requirements.
The Last Sundown looks like a post-apocalyptic-themed slot machine, which gives off Wild West vibes. I really enjoyed the design, since there is an excellent background image with the towns that survive in the desert and a mix of themed symbols.
There are a number of excellent-looking symbols inside, ranging from medical kits and wilds to four main characters (cyborgs included), and five guns (dog, pistol, grenade, revolver, axe, and combat knife).
The Last Sundown is another excellent slot machine from one of the industry’s giants, Play n GO. You get only themed graphics, no Royals here, plus there are a couple of interesting mechanics (Splitting Symbols), and huge rewards. The high volatility isn’t a plus, obviously, but experienced players will likely be able to get past it.
