NetEnt’s latest Asian themed game is Fortune Year, a slot which follows the usual Chinese-inspired trends and also adds a bit of the classics in its visuals. If you’ve played Grand Spinn, another NetEnt game, then you know what you will be getting here as well, since it’s a clone of that slot.
Expect to play on 3x3 reels, but only 1 active line will be available to you. Wins of up to 2,000x the stake are going to be possible, in a game with high volatility, and also a decent Return to Player, of 96.19%. The main features which have been implemented here, include the multiplier wilds and nudges.
You can get away with bets of just $0.02, while playing Fortune Year, with 2 coins being required for the smallest wager. You can take the level of the bet higher, and the coin value as well, and end up with a bet of up to $200 per spin.
The better reward that the game will promise, is the Mega Jackpot, which is fixed and returns 10,000 coins to you (for the level 1 bets). An alternative would come from the slot’s wins, which are promising payouts of 2,000x the stake per spin.
The volatility is on the higher side here, which is not ideal, as it means that there is a certain amount of risk involved with playing this slot. The rewards are pretty good though, particularly if you look at the Mega Jackpot as well, not just the regular wins being offered.

When Arrows appear on a winning symbol, the reel in question is going to be moved down, and the nudges will be repeated.
I’ve also mentioned that the game includes fixed jackpots, called Mega, Midi and Mini. You need the Jackpot symbols landing on the one active line, at some point, either during regular spins or thanks to nudges.
Fortune Year is the usual Asian style slot, a game which relies on an already released slot machine, cloning its mechanics and adding another coat of paint on top of it. It’s typical for the genre as well, with symbols ranging from Paper Lanterns (jackpots), to red envelopes, triple 8s, melons, oranges, plums, cherries and Bar logos.
Fortune Year is not a bad game for the 3-reel category, and particularly for the Asian market. It’s not entirely original, as a clone of Grand Spinn, but that doesn’t make it a bad game.
