Microgaming’s platform has been getting a large number of exclusive slots lately, and some of them have been designed by Snowborn Games. It’s the case with Miami Glow as well, a slot machine with a Miami Beach theme, which has been designed with neon-style graphics.
The decision was made to give us a slot machine with 5x3 reels, which has 10 active lines. You get paid up to 5,000x the stake, but only if the random multipliers kick in at the right time, and the right value. Other notable features include the regular/sticky/stacked wilds, re-spins, scatters and free spins. A game of medium to high volatility, Miami Glow features an average RTP of 96.09%.
Betting and Prizes
$0.20 is all it takes to start playing Miami Glow, the wager being used to cover all available lines. Increase the amount you’re wagering if you want to, and the upper ceiling will be hit when you get to $20.
The game’s winning combinations will deliver rewards of up to 500x the stake, when you combine the top paying combinations on all 10 active lines, in a single spin. To go further than that, you also need a randomly triggered multiplier to be available that spin, and to have the highest possible value, of 10x. That way, a 5,000x jackpot becomes possible, and the game pays up to $100,000.
It’s not going to be easy getting all those things to line up just right, in order to get a big payday, so count on this one being a slot with fairly high volatility. Even so, 96.09% is the expected Return to Player, so it’s not unfair if you compare it with every other modern slot machine.
Miami Glow Slot Features
Wild logos will show up on the reels, and they are going to be used in their usual role of the substitutes. They can be combined with regular symbols, to get you wins of smaller value, or they can form their own combinations and pay the same as the jackpot icon, so up to 50x the stake per line.
One of the features that Miami Glow has implemented, the Sticky Wilds will come with Re-Spins, during which you get the wilds locked in their current positions. Other positions on the reels will re-spin, and hopefully bring you new wins. Keep getting new wilds, to continue triggering re-spins.
The Random Multiplier is one of the best possible things to get in this game, which is why it’s a shame that you don’t get it in a way that would at least make you feel like you’re in control. As it stands, it triggers at random moments, and it boosts wins by 2x to 10x, depending on which random value it has.
The other big feature is a free spin, where you are playing with stacked wilds that can land on several reels at the same time, even on all of them. You need Glow scatters on three reels (1, 3, 5), to get the feature.
Theme & Design
The connection to Miami is there, at least in spirit, as the game shows us on its reels palm trees with flamingo birds, cocktails, red lips, diamonds and logos. It’s even less connected in the lower paying symbols, as you find only the card suits there. The neon style design makes sure that this doesn’t feel like a city themed game at all.
Miami Glow does look interesting, and a 5,000x jackpot is hard to argue with, but I would’ve preferred it if the multiplier wasn’t a random feature, and came as a result of some kind of game event that’s triggered by the player’s luck in a more visible way.
