Buck Stakes Entertainment and Microgaming are set to release a brand new slot game together, and it’s going to be called 4 Diamond Blues Megaways. Relying on the popular Megaways franchise, that’s been licensed from Big Time Gaming, the game keeps things simple, despite the choice of engine. The theme is the classic one, though very well executed, and the features are the same ones that we’ve seen in a lot of other similar slots.
4 Diamond Blues Megaways gives us 6 reels, and as you might guess, there are up to 117,649 ways to win available to the player. Get the right features to help out, including here Rolling Reels, free spins, wilds, and multipliers, and there is a jackpot that’s worth up to 18,500x the stake, just waiting for you. Naturally, the game is highly volatile, but it also mentions that the RTP is 96.40%, so that works out just fine.
You’re given a betting range between $0.10 and $20, to choose a value that you want to wager for the upcoming spin.
As for the jackpot, it’s worth 18,500x the stake at most, a payout that’s consistent with what’s generally seen in Megaways slots. The same goes for the high volatility rating, or for the 96.40% RTP. These are all typical for a game of this type, so you can get something similar in others, that might have more interesting features.
With 4 Diamond Blues Megaways, it feels like the developer is just going through the motions, there is no real effort to make it stand out.
As usual, what we’re getting is a game area with 6 reels, that will get up to 7 symbols on each column. The middle four reels have an extra four symbols at the top, that are separate from the main game area.
Once you form winning combinations, you trigger the Rolling Reels. This removes the winning symbols and then gives you new ones, which could lead to more wins (and more Rolls).
There is a wild symbol for you to use, a substitute that can be profitable, and definitely a plus for the game, even though it’s not the main attraction.
It happens often, that the free spins end up being the one feature that can pay the most, and 4 Diamond Blues Megaways is no different in that regard. Provided that you have 4 to 6 Diamonds on the reels, even if they’re scattered, the game offers 12 to 22 free spins, respectively. Once you get it going, the feature retriggers through the same Diamond scatters, with up to 10 rounds given for 4 scatters.
The main thing that changes, is that there is now a multiplier that goes up by 1x after each Rolling Reels trigger. There is no limit to how high this multiplier will go.
The Diamond might be the star here, but the rest of the symbols are the ones you’re going to see most often. Those will be inspired by the card suit icons for one, while the rest include a series of other classic symbols (bells, horseshoes, Bar logos, cherries). Not a bad design, but that’s mostly down to the quality of the design, not the choice of symbols or theme.
4 Diamond Blues looks like a standard Megaways slot, giving us the same top payouts, RTP, volatility, and features, like everyone else. If you’re a fan of Microgaming, then it’s definitely a plus to have access to Megaways games, but I wish they put more effort into them.
